The Baywatch movie just got even more bizarre.

Would you like to hear something even more demented
than the fact that there is going to be a Baywatch
movie? Yes? Said movie is supposedly going to be directed and co-produced by Eli
Roth. Yes, you heard me right: splatter/gore/horror wonderboy Eli Roth is going to direct a movie about boobs, sun,
and "crime-fighting lifeguards." Honestly. This is so odd that I have already checked the calendar three
times to confirm that it is not, in fact, April Fool's Day - and, since it's not, I suppose we'll have to accept that
it's really happening. According to Roth, the movie is going to feature "a new crop of hotties" (oh, joy), but will also include a cameo from legendary
Can you stand the anticipation?
Edit: Thanks to Carsten for pointing out the very reassuring update to the original AICN post: Roth is, in fact, producing, but is NOT directing the film. Thanks goodness. Of course, the movie's still happening, so not everything has been resolved - still, it's a step in the right direction.

That Eli Roth news is very, very old (by internet standards at least). He was announced as a producer when the movie was said to be going back into production, well over a year ago (if not more).

And no, Eli Roth is NOT the director. The story is partly fake. Harry makes that clear on aintitcoolnews.com:
Hey Folks - Harry here... Eli Roth contacted me about the below story. Apparently it originated out of the British tabloid, THE EXPRESS - and has fabricated quotes from Eli which he NEVER said. Lovely, eh? Also, Eli wanted to make it clear that he is not the "DIRECTOR" of BAYWATCH THE MOVIE, I'm betting Richard Kelly will do it. (giggle) Eli is the "Co-Producer" of the film. Which basically means he will have the right to show up at the beaches and stare at Hasselhoff's body for hours, unless banned from the set. So there ya go, the record is straight.

Should have Uwe Boll do it... Not that it would make a difference as to bringing in revenue for the film...

I wonder if they'll shoot it entirely in slow-motion?

Nothing surprises me these days. Everyone should know by now that the culture these days is spiraling downhill quickly with everything from commercials to movies featuring violence and naked women or half naked women. It is very disheartening.
