Jackson Sneaks Some Kong Extras (maybe)

The UK's Empire Magazine handed out its movie
awards last weekend, and the jury (aka the readers) really loved King
Kong, electing it film of the year over also-rans Crash, Sin City, War of the Worlds, and
Revenge of the Sith. Peter
Jackson, sadly, wasn't on hand to collect his award, but he did send along one of the most elaborate, longest
acceptance videos the world has ever known - lucky for him, it was also incredibly funny, so no one was booing as it
entered its fourth minute. After opening with a stunned reaction to the fact that his pretty Empire plaque actually said King Kong and NOT Brokeback Mountain, Jackson (the shock of whose skinniness I don't think I'll ever really get over) proceeded to spin a series of riffs about the "polite" actors in the film (cue clips of them swearing), Jack Black's ineptitude (clips of him screwing up his lines), and Andy Serkis' brilliant sense of Kong, a line that led to the part of the video that made me laugh so hard I nearly swallowed my tongue. I don't want to spoil it for you, but let's just say there's dancing involved.
While I assume that all of the outtakes Jackson showed will be on the Super Mega Kong DVD that's due out in a couple of weeks, it's pretty nice that those of us who won't be picking it up get to see the extras for free. Thanks, internets.

I loved this movie, and I thought the video was hilarious! So far, Peter Jackson hasn't made a movie I don't like. Way to go with the new look, we should call him Lord of the Thins!
