Cannabis, the Movie
Holy crap! Am I the only person who didn't know you could
make millions of dollars selling weed? It doesn't matter, really, because soon, everyone will know: HBO Films is
producing a movie based on the story of a group of teenagers in Idaho who did just that. Entitled King
Cannabis, the movie will likely focus on Nate Norman, a kid who went from pizza delivery guy to drug kingpin (and
is now doing 12 years in federal prison). With his friends, Norman made $38 million -- selling pot. Either they smoke
an insane amount of marijuana in Idaho, or my concept of how much the stuff costs is way, WAY off. John Stockwell (of crazy/beautiful and
Blue Crush
"fame") will base his screenplay on one of the many magazine articles about the group, and is planning to
direct, as well. So, basically, what we have here is a Risky Business for the 21st century: how I made big bucks, met ladies, and had tons of fun doing illegal things. Sure, this one includes a long prison sentence, but still - think of the money! Who wants to place bets on how many idiot stoner kids will take this as a how-to and get arrested within weeks of the film's release? Anyone?

That was decent work for those whom understand the billion dollar business of distributing MJ. The articles on these kids are great. But, Iv'e sold more than all of them kids. Made so much cannot keep count. This is why I am retired and now residing in the carribean islands. And, I am from the midwest.

What's great is how much it's used, and how few ODs and bad effects there are. I don't use it, but I don't care if anyone else does, why waste all that money looking for it?
The whole gateway drug is dumb too. The fact that hardcore folks have used marijuana has nothing to do with causality. It means heavy drug users try most anything, not that pot leads to cocaine.
Man it's getting old.

Please control yourself. If we worried about every potential copycat, we would have to isolate ourselves competley. No books, no Libraries, no movies or television, no study of history and especially no contact with anyone who might have a bad idea brewing in their minds. Ban Peter Rabbit for sneaking into Mr. MacGregor's Garden, why don't you?

When the US Govt wisens up, they will have a billion dollar industry on their hands one day and reduce the national deficit. Marijuana is nothing more than a party gag, it's a harmless weed and they know it. Alcohol is far more dangerous but the Govt. knows marijuana makes people think differently. I took an IQ test many years ago after I smoked and I got transferred over to Mensa's website lol. Asking the Govt. to tell the truth about marijuana is like asking Dracula to guard our blood banks.

Cheers to HBO for choosing to put this in the spotlight....
Yes you can make loads of money with it , and no there is nothing bad about marijuana .. The last test done showed that it "MAY" be as harmful as tobacco. To me that says tobacco is worse. So why doesnt the GOV. cash in on this crop with taxes? It would cost the same if not less to manufacture a pack of 20 marijuana cigarettes as it would a pack of tobacco cigarettes. And let me tell you I would be happy to pay $30 for one pack. Today $30 only buys about 4-5 joints. What does that mean? .. Well it means that the Gov. could be making over $25 in taxes off of every single pack sold and both sides win. 1 Million packs sold daily = $25 Million + in taxes daily.. can you say hello more jobs and bye bye defecit?

hhhm made a lot of money selling to "them kids" huh. Use some of that money to buy hooked on Phonics and a few grammar texts. Moron.
As for the dope, no pun intended, who doesn't believe marijuana is a gateway drug. Try teaching in NYC schools. I teach the children of crackheads. The Crackhead parents are the children and grandchildren of the idiots who were supposed social drug users in the 60s and they are all fouled up.
I myself am the daughter of a 60's counter culture waste-oid. My brother is a recovering crack addict and of my 32 first cousins (all but two of my aunts and uncles on my mother's side bought into that "it's natural and not harmful bull) are addicts most active about 8 in recovery.
I am terrified I will pass on the mutant junkie gene because addiction is BOTH nature and nurture.

The Government knows that illegalizing doesn't work, they learned this through prohibition. The reason it's not been made legal and never will be is that too many corrupt politicians are making a LOT of tax free, under the table dollars taking payoff's from the drug lords to "look the other way" allowing shipments into the country. Sure, they make token busts to make it look as though they're doing their job, but know this...for every bust they let us know about, there are 10 other shipments that make it in. Go figure huh?

If marijuana were smoked by muslim extremists, terrorism would be reduced to a bunch of bearded guys sitting on mats singing songs. Pot is the most benign drug. By comparison, alcohol is arsenic. Also, alcohol consumption leads to agression and illogical behavior. Pot leads to munchies. I smoke all the time, and stop for days or weeks with no effect except that I kinda miss the nice glow. Alcohol dependant people puke and get D.T's. THe Gateway Drug thing is most definitely bull. Also, pot is misunderstood. Yes, it can cause one to have somewhat less interest in the "Real World" but only by intensifying the inner world, increasing your creativity and focus on interests. And wherever you happen to fall on the "Number Line" of logical thought versus intuition, smoking pot moves you over several notches toward the intuitive. This is VERY benificial for some. It's an all-natural anti-depressant, nowhere near as bad as the over-the-counter types. In fact, smoking pot made me more spiritual, which is hugely gratifying to me personally, and I honestly feel that if I had never tried the stuff that door would have NEVER opened. So there. Legalize it already, you corporate retards!

Well, the idea about the gov't is Right On! Alcohol kills more innocents, all year, every year, than all the MJ in the world combined! How many times have you heard of a STONED driving accident? Not to many, I'd bet. The STONER is too busy waiting for the stop sign to turn green! LOL No, seriously, I think we'd reduce the trillion $ deficit, or whatever insane figure it's reached, by now, in record time. And unless I'm mistaken, there is a MEDICAL use for marijauana. What a waste of city, and GOV'T DESPETATELY needed cash, to pay these cops and FBI and DEA and everyone else involved?! There is no BENEFICIAL use of alcohol, unless there's some club the alcoholics have created to see whose can DRIVE DRUNK and KILL the most innocents?! OR, who can have the fastest cirrosis of the liver an get a liver transplant?! Can I get a HELL YEAH?

I agree about the terrorist and war idea, as well. Everyone might just see, IF THEY WOULD EVER LEGALIZE IT, that it was put here as a seed beraring herb by our great one and it truly IS the INTERGLOBAL PEACEMAKER?! What the hell, do they think a PEACE PIPE was just a made up item and concept?

obviously the writer of this has never smoked mj in his life. Pot makes you a pussycat, not some "crazed teen". Even his idea that every mj smoking teen will suddenly try to make millions is faulty, most smokers are passive agressive types who only want to get by and be left alone in life. Ive smoked mj since i was 13 and have never once sold anything, i could have.., but its against my philosiphy. I dont seek, i travel.

Alright, let's get this straight. Now, I love weed, don't get me wrong. I have been toking almost daily for about 5 years now, but there are negative side effects to smoking. Whether they outweigh the positive effects is debatable. ;) I have done quite a bit of research into this subject since I am a psychology major and wish to study the long term effects of marijuana on the brain in my near future. There really is not any conclusive evidence in either direction that long term marijuana use causes lasting impairement in brain function(or does not), however numerous studies have found that heavy users suffer memory loss, attention deficits (ever felt a bit ADD?), and can impair one's ability to retain new information. The good news is that it appears that most if not all of your brain function is regained if you choose to obstain (i.e. quit). If I have learned anything from my 22 years on this planet, it is that life is all about a balance and moderation. Sure, have a glass of wine...but if you drink ten, your body is going to let you know its not very happy with you. The same goes for weed. Sure, smoke out with your friends on the weekend, but if you start smoking by yourself, purchasing when you don't have the finances, or shirking your responsibilities in order to get high, then you know you have a problem. Weed is not "bad", its the abuse of it that is the problem. The question is,"do you have the willpower to moderate?"

I use to use and sell MJ. Made a lot of money and went to jail for it. I finally grew up and left it alone. I occasionly wouldn't mind burning one, but at the current cost it's a waste of money, unless the gov't would let us grow our own pot. Pot does not lead to trying other drugs, unless you were already predisposed to do so.

Why isn't pot legal? There is only one reason; There is no simple test to determine how stoned you are when you are driving. Alcohol is easy to test, marijuana is not. It really doesn't affect driving ability but that is the reason why. To prove the last statement, how many kids sit around playing video games while they're stoned and how well do they do??? Put the same video control into the hands of someone who's been drinking and how well do they do??? Canada did a study and found that you are no more likely to be at fault if you've been smoking weed and in an accident. The same is not true of alcohol.

I'm 47, been smok'in since I was 14, and I'm convinced the most dangerous thing about marijuana is the arrest record you will recieve for being careless. If being careless is a crime worthy of a lengthy jail sentence, lock that idiot George Bush up for a few years! We'll lower the deficit, end the war and possibly even find a way to let all people enjoy their individual freedoms again. POWER to the PEOPLE!! YEAH
