More from Tyler Perry

Don't look now, friends, but Tyler Perry is slowly taking over the world. Despite a
lukewarm critical reaction, his Madea's Family Reunion
topped the box office for its first two weeks of release, and has earned revenues of nearly 10
times its budget in less than a month. And two weeks ago, he signed
an unusual deal making his sitcom (House of Payne) available for first-run syndication. Though Perry won't
star in the show, he is a writer and producer and is likely to make guest appearances; Payne is expected to
air some time this summer. Now comes the news of a new deal with Lionsgate, the company that is reaping the rewards of Madea's tremendous popularity: Perry will write, produce, and direct a drag-free new project called Daddy's Little Girl for the studio. The movie is a reverse take on the Cinderella story in which "a young, beautiful, successful female attorney...falls in love with a janitor and single father of three daughters." Though her dad, inevitably, objects - hence the title - everything works out ok in the end. (Clearly I'm really stupid, because this doesn't sound anything like Cinderella to me. Where are the nasty step-sisters/brothers? The evil stepmother?)
Because Perry is just that big of a cash cow, Lionsgate are pushing this one ahead at lightning speed - they hope to start shooting by June, and have the movie in theaters less than a year from now.

I am the #1 Tyler Perry Fan:
I would love to see "Madea" team up with American Idol. That would be the most unexpected fun for the entire family.
The top movie and the Top Television show team up to bring even more families together.
I would love for "Madea" to give all the contestants some advice on loving themselves and following their dreams. I think it would just mean so much. Because, millions of people who probably don't look at American Idol would probably tune in to see Tyler Perry. "Madea".
I would love for Madea to give all the judges some advice. Then I would love for Madea to dance with all the contestants that are left probably teaching them all to do the electric slide and perform on stage.
I have taken so many different groups to see the movie simply out of my love for the movie.
I have went so many times and I want everyone to see it and simply enjoy spending time with old family and friends.

I find Tyler Perry's work very enjoyable, loaded with good messages, as well as entertaining. I've been a loyal supporter of his work since 2004. The next movie will be different (without "Madea") and that's a good thing. We will have the opportunity to see Tyler rise to another level. I'm very proud of him and will continue to support his work. Congratulations to you Tyler and Lionsgates Film for providing good wholesome entertainment.

I agree with the comment above that this new venture will allow us to see another side of Tyler Perry. While his characters "Madea" and "Joe" have solidified his place in Hollywood, I for one am eager to see the other side of Tyler. I have no doubt that it will be a huge success, the new movie, as well as the TV series. The negativity that has come from his success in some circles of the African American community will undoubtedly be put to rest. Press on Tyler......all the way to the bank! I ain't mad at cha!

Tyler I thank God for you everyday. I know that God has placed you in Hollywood not only to make movies, but to change the way hollywood is ran. Not to reach and get the people who have made it, but the ones who want to make it. Reach back and get the browns or should I say the Manns, the ones that were with you when you felt so all alone. God works with us best when we are without instead of in. He has choosen you for this time to show Hollywood that God is still on the Throne. We as a people have your back and promise to support you all the way. Your sister in Christ. Brenda
