Craig Gears Up For More Bond

Bond producer Barbara Broccoli sent a clear message to those who feel casting Daniel Craig was a bad decision by announcing that they're already at work on a sequel and Craig will star. Oh yeah, craignotbond.com - you just got served! That line is so old, I'm almost embarrassed to keep using it. Sigh.
Convinced Casino Royale will simply knock your socks off (never quite sure how that could actually happen in real life. I mean, would the socks have to be completely torn off or just fall down a little?), Broccoli says, "We are already working on the sequel. We're in the early stages of that. It will be an original story but will continue part of what the story is in Casino Royale."
Not sure about you, but I'm down with them going retro on Bond for a few films. I think it will be fun to watch him grow into the secret agent we've all been so used to for awhile. Plenty of room for some intense character development, you know? However, right now, I believe Barbara needs some more people to hop on the Broccoli bandwagon in order to truly convince us. Ahem, how about you throw us a teaser?

I'm still not sold on craig being bond, i grew up with the franchise and love it.
I see another Lazenby happening, in that it could be a quite a good film but fans will not give it the time of day because there messing things up to much.
Why cant they just do a spin off set of movies based on the 00 theme of secret agents, then they can start afresh with a new character or/and a new time-line without having to f-up a legend.
I'm sure more 007 fans will watch a new 008 than a completely restyled 007...

Ha. The box office will "serve" Barbara Broccoli's - and Eon's - ego a severe one-two punch. Just remember, at one time, Joel Schumacher was actively planning the details to *Batman V*.
Brosnan is still the-once-and-future-Bond. Although I hope he tells them to "stuff it" in the grand tradition of Connery when they come to him begging for him to suit back up after this movie tanks.
Of course, I'm sure Connery said more than "stuff it".

They aren't really going retro with this one. Sure, it follows Bond in his early years, but it's set in modern times. I would love it to be in the Cold War era, but that's not happening.

A good solution for the Bond franchise is tough. One, because there is the Bond of the novels and the Bond of the movies. Two, because the moves themselves have gone from edgy thrillers to PG popcorn flicks (which apparently people love). I'm a purist who just can't get over how much better Bond is in the novels and what a joke the movies have become, and so I'd do a straight-up adaptation. To that end, Daniel Craig is perfect. He's handsome with humanity.

I have to agree; Bond movies *should* be set in the Cold War years. Why not do a "reset" of the films, setting them in the late 50s/early 60s?
I have a similar feel on the superhero films -- Batman in the 30s, Superman in the 40s -- but no one asked me. :)
