Brokeback Action Figures!
Given that pretty much everything else has been Brokeback-ed
(from Back to the Future to Legos), it was practically inevitable that the action
figures would arrive eventually. And, though you can't yet have a Jack Twist of your very own, at least one set has now
been created. According to a post at Pink News (who,
frustratingly, never offer a link to the page of the actual creator), the figures were constructed by a guy named
"Jedi Doug", a Canadian who made them out of parts of other, commercially available figures. So, really, if
you're so-moved, you can make your own - you've got the recipe
and everything. Really, the list of source-figures is by far the best part of this whole thing: I wonder how Heath Ledger would feel, knowing that he's got Pedro's legs, and that the part of his head is being played by Pat Burrell.

I wonder, are they anatomically correct? That would be perfect. They could be a breakthrough in the toy market. Reality dolls.
I was just in St. Barths (small Caribbean island) and all the women there go topless on the beaches and there are a lot of nude beaches too, with dick hanging out everywhere. Nobody goes ballistic about it. There is no congressional nvestigation.
This country USA is WAY too puritanical. We need anatomically correct, not NEUTERED, dolls. Stop lying to our children. There is nothing wrong with body parts.

Wow, this is truly pathetic. People complain about having a nativity scene in public at Christmas time which is a RELIGIOUS HOLIDAY, but want two Gay cowboy dolls without question.....something is wrong folks.

I can't believe that anyone is still SO ignorant to think that being gay is the "devil's work". It's the way people are born, you ignoramus. It is NOT a choice. WHY would someone choose to be tormented by ignorant people, and ignored by their own government...? You do realize that all your praying and wishing won't eliminate gays any sooner than all the idiot racists praying and wishing will eliminate other races, don't you? You do know that there have been gays as far back as the beginning of man, don't you? And until the end of man, there will be gays. In spite of your opinion of them, they exist, and they are as human as anybody, more so than some. You do not have to answer for anyone elses's life but your own. You wouldn't want to answer to your God for being a hate-spewing fanatical ass...would you???

Chill, man! The person before wasn't spewing hate, just making a comment. It's not fair that folks who want nativty scenes around get persecuted about that. Let's all be more tolerant, please. Sounds like you've been hurt -- many of us empathize with you, regardless of what we believe about homosexuality.
As for the dolls, funny -- but I don't wnat them. Besides, you could use any cowboy figures for this and paint them if you want.

I've got to respectfully disagree with both sides. The person who said gays have no choice is right...just like child molesters, liars, thieves, alcoholics, the person who said it was the devil's work, you, me, and the rest of the world has no choice. We're born with these problems and God feels the same about each of them, He hates sin. From birth our choices are bad. Thankfully we have a Father who loved us enough to save us. Jesus made every perfect choice during His lifetime and finally chose to die for us. That's God's guarantee that He chooses to see us through Jesus as perfect human beings (even though we aren't) who deserve to live with Him forever. But I agree that "gay" cowboys are not a good "choice" as a toy.

What does [God] thing of all this? Do you really thing that [God] cares about these dolls? Or the gay or straight issues? I don't think so. After all, [God] created every soul in the universe the way [God] intended. All [God] ever wanted for all of us, is that we love each other the way [God] loves us (unconditionally). Perhaps its a test. And a lot of the world seems to be failing this test. We need to love each other...dolls or no dolls...labels or no labels.

ABOUT THE OLD DAYS. YOU NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THEM THERE QUEERS. THAT'S NICE. BUT HOW SAD IS IT THAT QUEERS ARE BEING SHOVED DOWN YOUR THROAT. WHATS SADDER YET IS THAT HATE AND IGNORANCE IS BEING TAUGHT BY NONE OTHER THAN PEOPLE LIKE YOURSELF. THE WORLD IS MESSED UP AND THATS THE ONLY COMMENT YOU MADE THAT IS CORRECT. MAYBE A GOOD EDUCATION IS IN ORDER.

I personally feel this is a incredible waste of time. Those of us who are gay ( me included) are tired of attempting to educate the folks of the world that are misinformed. As for the dolls....if you think they are inappropriate - don't buy them! Too simple and too much like right?

The action figures and the movie continue the nearly unbroken trend of "gay bashing." Most of the buyers will be either gay men or straight gay bashers looking for another way of attacking the life style. On the surface both the action figures and moive appear to bring attention to what it means to be gay and in love. But look at the plot. The characters are in a sick relationship; need to hide; and they end by hurting the so called innocent. One of the characters, of course, is beaten to death by a mob. The movie unfortunately does tell viewers who are not gay what potential problems gay love can generate; the action figures are just a take home reminder of distruction. If we are to have a positive image reinforcement presented through movies and other forms, then the leading element must be up-lifting. There are many strong and healthy "marriages" in the gay community. Those are the ones that need to be presented to the public.
