JLo Snags a Role in Ocean's 13?
Filed under: Casting, RumorMonger, DIY/Filmmaking, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Remakes and Sequels
Okay, so the last time I spoke about JLo here on Cinematical, things didn't go so well. People thought I was
being very mean and awfully unfair towards Mrs. Lopez-Noa-Judd-Almost Affleck-Anthony. Perhaps I can redeem myself
here. Or not. As Martha
reported the other day, Steven Soderbergh and company are
returning, yet again, for Ocean's 13. The funniest thing
about these sequels is that, as the numbers get higher, it's just that many more people they need to cast.
I'd love for this thing to go to Ocean's 26 just to see which random actors show up. I'd imagine myself saying
things like, "Holy crap, is that a digitized Marlon Brando?
Sweet!"
While most of the cast is returning for a sequel, Julia Roberts and Catherine Zeta-Jones will stay behind. Supposedly, the script didn't call for their characters, but something tells me that's a load of craps. Ya know, like the game? With Ellen Barkin signed on to play a love interest to Matt Damon's character, there's room for one more female to fight over heartthrobs George Clooney and Brad Pitt. Unfortunately, it appears as if Angelina Jolie will not be showing up (Ain't that a bummer?), but Jennifer Lopez is now one of the names being thrown into consideration. Of course, this comes via a "Super Secret Inside Source" over at JoBlo, so take it all with a grain of salt for now.
Honestly, I really enjoyed Lopez's shifty performance in Out of Sight. Coincidentally, her co-star in that film was none other than George Clooney. Now, if her role alongside Danny Ocean is similar, then I'm down with giving her a shot. Ocean's 13 will start shooting (primarily on five soundstages in Burbank) this July 21st.

Is it ridiculous? Why?
tttt. Somebody needs to be sat down with a copy of Searching For Debra Winger.
Ahem.
I theorised as to what the plot of this new Oceans film might entail, over on my blog. It was 50% wild speculation, and 50% informed estimation, taking into account the storylines of 1 and 2, and a clear progression they were making. Full Frontal might alos have offered a clue, too. Click on my name to go there, I guess. The post is called
"Oceans 13 - What Is It About?"
I think J Lo can really do it when she's attached to the right part and her director won't take no guff. Out of Sight, and to a lesser degree Shall We Dance show that she really does have some mettle. I think it'd be great to have her in Oceans 13.

I really think that's bizarre...I could J.Lo being in it...they'd have to do something to recover for the fact that Ellen Barkin is not going to be a crowd draw...
And Ellen + Matt??? that's a horrible screen mix in my mind.

I think Lopez will be too good for this movie by the time her next two independent movies come out. She can do a lot better than this boring franchise.

Well then, if they include JLo you can be sure there will not be an Oceans 13 because her inclusion will make sure that this film flops. JLo sucks.

This sounds amazing! Jennifer is a great actress, she just needs to choose better scripts that showcase her immense acting talents. I can soooo see her tearing up the screen in this movie, plus she has AMAZING chemistry with George Clooney (see: "Out of Sight"). Oh, and for all the haters out there, get a damn life, J.Lo is all that! I also totally predict that Jennifer will be nominated for an Oscar next year for her movie "El Cantante." I have been hearing some real serious Oscar buzz about Jennifer's phenomenal performances in both this film as well as "Bordertown." My girl Jenny lo is back!

JLo os NOT a serious actress. She uses her own accent in every film, no matter what the character calls for. Sexy, yes! Beautiful, sometimes. An actress? NO!

JLO and GC were steamy hot in Out of Sight. It would be wonderful to see them teamed on screen again. It is what solidified my fanship of both actors from that point on. Just like Johnny Depp in Benny and Joon. Starmaking performances.

JLO is one of the worst actresses in Hollywood! Her voice is annoying and she doesn't have half the talent everyone seems to think she has. Putting her in any movie is sure to doom its success. She should consider taking acting and signing lessons before attempting another movie role. She is cinematic poison and should leave the acting to those who possess talent she will never have.

Can we say Jersey Girl? Maid in Manhattan? I could go on, but I think you get the point. Plus.. I hate the idea of milking a remake by producing sequels. It's an insult, in my opinion. Plus Ocean's 12 blew. But anywho.

The way I see it, Jo-Lo should stick with singing. If she desires to act then she should take language classes. Her spanish and her Bronx accent do not do any justice to any of her films. From one PR to another. Betty

She might not be the most talented but she is a crowd pleaser. Let's be honest...everyone is always curious of her. Women secretly envy her and men desire her. So what is talent when the public must have more!!! Remember we made her rich...we gave her success. And I want to watch every minute she is onscreen. I won't deny myself loving JLO!

I love Oceans 11 and 12 and they are still one of my favorites that I can watch over and over again. I look forward to seeing how they really pull off a heist. I will go and see Oceans 13 but I am really disappointed that Julia Roberts will not be in it. It won't be the same. Oceans 11 started with Danny wanting and finally getting Tess back. It wasn't about the heist for him. In 12 they were still together. The chemistry between George and Julia is unbelievable. Yes JLo and George had it but not like George and Julia. Brad and Catherine didn't even have it and now they are going to bring Ellen in for Matt. I wish they wouldn't ruin a good thing. Find a way to put Julia in.

I love George C, but thought "12" was an absolute plotless bore. I wanted to see some of the "11" characters more, like the original with Sinatra. Catherine added no value to the script, but Julia played a role worth watching. "13" sounds like nothing more than a two hour "Entertainment Tonight" feature.

Pretty much every guy wants to see JLO-but not for her acting talents. I first saw her on Selena-she's a bad actress. People only saw it because of Selena's story--that's it. Women(secure ones)don't envy her. I don't want to be her or look like her. Her acting is very BAD. She will kill this film. When ever she went #1 on a movie it's because nothing good was on. Charlize Theron would be awesome!! She's gorgeous!!
