Tell Me Where To Stay In Cannes
So, I'm going to Cannes. I've never been before. As much as I'd like to spend the
next seven weeks picking out the perfect pair of open-toed sandals for my first stroll down La Croisette, I'm afraid
that if I don't find lodging soon, I will be covering the Festival from a cardboard box, and cute footwear will be the
least of my worries. So: got any hotel recommendations? Or, better yet, do you or anyone you know have, or have info
about, a housing share? I'm looking for space for myself, and the illustrious James Rocchi. If you have any tips,
please send them directly to me at karina AT cinematical DOT com.

By now all major hotels should be overbooked. Don't worry you probably couldn't afford one anyway. You may try renting an appartment, but this should be also sold out. What I did last year is sublet a room from a local fella. It costs 10x less, and it can be very close to the Palais. Because you want to be near the palais (if you are interested in the movies, that is). Otherwise your feet will hurt quickly, because the Croisette is longer than you think.
A couple of sites (mostly in french):
http://www.appartager.com/
http://www.colocation.fr/
http://www.recherche-colocation.com/
and portail-colocation*com
Best of luck and enjoy. If you want to organise a cinematical gathering it would be fun.

It's true, most of the major hotels are probably all full by now. But there are a few smaller hotels nearby the Palais that you could try like Amiraute. Most of these hotels are 3 star joints but they're fine. Or if you don't mind travelling a bit, there's a place that I stayed last MIPCOM called Villa Francia. It's located in La Bocca but it takes 5 mins by taxi/bus and there is usually a shuttle service during the festivals etc. Hope this helps. :)

Juan Les Pins and Antibes are both nice spots on the cote d'azur and close to Cannes.

Well, I am going as well and I haven't booked anything yet either but there are plenty of apartments to rent and are still available. You just need to do a Google search for them. They can be expensive though. Last year, I stayed in a two room apartment on Rue D'Antibes which was just a five minute walk to the Palais and it cost EUR5,500. You can get cheaper ones but be careful and always ask for a photo of the apartment as some can be very average. Good luck and enjoy Cannes!
