Juggernaut in Action
Filed under: Action, Fandom, Comic/Superhero/Geek, Remakes and Sequels
If you are looking for hope in the Vinne Jones as the Juggernaut
situation, this sadly is not your day. IGN has
recently shared a few new pictures (under the title of Juggernaut Breaks Loose) showing the man himself in action - and
while they certainly demonstrate a very positive step up from that absolutely laughable image that was floating around a
week or two ago, they still lack the essential hugeness that should define the character. He weighs nine hundred pounds,
for crying out loud. For comparison, pull up Marvel Directory's Juggernaut page and have a good look at the
character as he is shown there, particularly in the picture halfway down the page where he is throwing Spider-Man
around - the perspective offered by a normal-ish sized Peter Parker really exemplifies how huge the Juggernaut should
be. I will say that the image on IGN that shows him running behind Mystique seem to convey a proper sense of
height...but the guy still needs to weigh several hundred more pounds. Really, though, there are probably bigger (pun
definitely intended) problems to worry about with this film than the Juggernaut's character design.

Totally agree, he does look beefy in the shot, but no Juggernaut...I would have said that perhaps there are still CGI shots to do...but it is a bit late in the day.

It's worse than what you might think, as in the IGN pic, it's not Mystique that Juggy is running behind, but Kitty Pryde. A "young" version of Kitty, which means she is a lot shorter than Mystique. So, do they really have the height reference correct after all. In all fairness to the movie people, I think Vinne has the right attitude to play Cain, and he looks pretty cool all be it a bit too small. Maybe he is that young Juggy from that old J2 series!

I don't think the IGN pics are new, but screencaps from the trailer.
Besides, I don't think Juggernaut looks that bad. If they were to do a straight translation from the comic books, it might end up looking laughable with the size.
I'm still moaning the exclusion of Nightcrawler in this film. If anything, complain about that.

They should hand over what they have currently to Peter Jackson and peace will be restored to the X-men franchise.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; they should have just cast Nathan Jones as Juggernaut. No effects needed. I wish I still had my Tom Yum Goong copy to grab some screens, but these'll get the point across:

Nathan Jones would have been much better as Juggernaut. Hell, to be true to the source material Juggernaut should have been all CG, sort of like the Hulk was.
All in all it is clear that those responsible do not give a shit about this film and that is why Prof. X and Cyclops are killed in the beginning. That is also why Berry's continuous whining led to her greater part in X3 which consequently helps make the film shit. It also helps explain why so many bad guys in X3 look like rejects from Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.
If he was responsible for X3 Peter Jackson would at least care about the film he was making. Look at the care and effort put into Kong (I thought Kong sucked too). Ratner is a poster child for abortion and does not give a shit about X3.
Juggernaut is not chasing Mystique, he is chasing Kitty Pryde. Try watching the trailer.

In comment to comment number 3, Nightcrawler's not in X3 due to writing but the fact that Alan Cummings (Nightcrawler) detested his time in the makeup and did not want to return.
