Iceman Gets Some Action
Filed under: RumorMonger, Fandom, Comic/Superhero/Geek, Remakes and Sequels
Well X-Fans, it seems that Rogue's suave boyfriend is cheating on her with a new member of the team. That's
right, Gambit has...oh wait. I'm sorry, we're talking about the movies, not the comic books. Let's try again.
Everyone's favorite original X-Man, Bobby Drake (aka Iceman)...dang it...we're still talking about the movies. Yeah.
Okay...everyones favorite second gen X-Man is getting some sweet extra-curricular action in the latest bootleg
X3
image to reach the internet. Over on the
X-Men Films forum you can dig a spoiler-iffic shot of Bobby and what seems to be Kitty ( I've already misidentified
her in an image this week, but the fans on the forum are backing me up on this one) sharing a rather intimate moment
over the privacy of an ice covered fountain. Wonder how that happened...In related news, every mutant in the known world seems to be in this final flick...except the ragin' Cajun, Remy Lebeau. That's Gambit, for you casual fans - the guy who is actually Rogue's man. Seriously, how does Leech make it in the movie and Gambit doesn't?

They screwed up Rogue's story from the start. She was too young and her hair/eyes are the wrong color. I suppose we can overlook the physical, but honestly, the woman can't even fly or lift heavy objects. All she can do is suck the life out of them. Where, I ask you, is the fun in that??

IMHO.
Gambit is the weakest of the X-men. Other than having a bitching trench and a cool "talk women out of their panties" accent he's got nothing. His power is to charge items up making them explosive. His weapon of choice? a deck of cards? so he can hit you 52 times? or 56 if you include the two jokers and the card that lets you buy more cards and the other card that gives you the cards warrantee info. What happens when he runs out of cards? Persoanlly I wont miss him in the lineup. For that matter if his power allows him to charge "anything" wouldn't that have been cooler? I mean whats scarier a guy flicking glowing cards at you? or a guy throwing anything within his reach at you?
Everyones talking like they are sick of superhero movies, wanna bet they all still go watch them?
They are putting Venom in Spidey 3, so ultimate disaster averted.

Rogue couldn't fly or lift heavy objects in the beginning of her life, even in the comics. She got those powers by holding on too long to a mutant that could fly and is strong (I can't remember who) and because she held on too long, she kept those powers as well as some of the mutants thoughts. Thats how she can fly and is strong in the comics, she wasn't just born with those powers. There is still time for the movie to catch up, but I agree she and Iceman are a generation too young.

Actually, Rogue's original power was just to absorb life/powers. Then she sucked the powers and memories out of another character (I think Ms. Marvel) so strongly that they never faded. That's when she became invulnerable, strong and airborne. She also almost had a psychotic breakdown trying to sort out the two sets of memories. Extreme geek out end... now.

Gambit can charge anything, he's been known to charge cards, rocks, tables, chairs, even the armour/clothes of the people he fights. He can't charge living (organic)matter but that's about it.

I knew her original powers were only to absorb, but the Rogue I remember, as Jon said, was super strong, invulnerable, and could fly. That's three of the best superpowers in one place, yet the movie made Rogue far too young to have aquired all her lovely powers. I suppose they did so to bring in a younger audience, but honestly, it's a movie about super heroes. The young audience is built in. Give the woman all her powers.

Rogue started out young but she followed magneto for a while originally. During a battle in San Fransisco Rogue used her absorption power against Ms. Marvel but for some reason Rogue kept the powers and thoughts nearly killed Carol Danvers (Ms. Marvel). Having the 2 personalitys drove Rogue nuts and she left magneto to seek help from Xaiver, at which point she joind the X-Men although there was a serious wedge between her and them as Ms Marvel was a friend of theirs.
Either way the problem with the movie isn't so much rogues age as it is that the movie kind of started in the middle of her story line without completing all the steps first. I pesonally highly doubt we will ever see rogue get her powers in the movies, I think that if the tried to do it that it would come off as rushed and sloppy, they should just leave it as is.

Hmmmm.
Personally, I can't see how that is clearly Kitty. It looks quite like Anna Paquin as well. And wouldn't Bobby kissing Rogue fit a whole lot better with the whole cure for Mutancy plot line. Very not convinced.

I'm a stickler for beliving if you film a comic book chracter, you should keep those characters, un-touched from the original comics. All storys should remain intact regarding super powers or origin stories, because nothing is worse than going to see your favorite superhero on the big screen to find them "loosly based" around said character. If they were going to "jump" to the middle of her story, than she should have already been blessed with those powers and now the story should be that she is getting help, but not quite right yet...that would have been almost more entertaining, than watching her try to figure out how to make out with Iceman. For that matter Jean Grey turned into Phoenix waaaaaay too early, and I have a feeling that wont even be addressed in X3..

iceman was kissing kitty pride in the trailer. down by the fountain. which he also turned to ice. in the trailer. the one that's been out for weeks.
as for plot, what girl wouldn't get rid of her powers to get back the boy she loved, after watching him kiss another girl? from the second floor window. in the trailer.
as for the people who liked the comics: never ever ever expect hollywood to make you happy.
