Cinephelia in Seattle: You Want Diversity? How About The Intruder, Private, The Goonies AND Deliverance? Oh, Yeah.

Shockingly, this weekend might actually be sunny here in the Puget Sound. If you're like me, you'll be out and about soaking in some rays that don't come from a lamp, but that's okay. Once the sun goes down, you'll still be wanting something to do, though --  and as always, Seattle has your movie fix.

UW Film Club 

This week brings us the 5th Annual Native Voices Film Festival. Check out the schedule - all events are free, so if you don't want to spend $20 to go see something at the multiplex, this might be a good option.

Central Cinema

Dangerous Liaisons - See Glenn Close and John Malkovich being mean and depraved while wearing fabulous costumes on the big screen. April 5-8 @ 6:45 and 9:30PM

Independent Exposure - Microcinema's touring program of indie films, videos and digital art. This month's theme: Up in Smoke: Architecture in Translation. April 12 @7PM and 9PM.

Deliverance - The classic film about a vacation trip gone terribly, terribly wrong, which forever typecast poor Ned Beatty as "that guy who got ... you know ... in Deliverance". April 13-16 @ 7PM and 9:30PM.

The Intruder - Don't miss the Seattle premiere of Claire Denis' film about a man who secures a black-market heart for a transplant -- with unexpected consequences. April 7-13 @ 7PM and 9:30PM

Mansex Agitprop -  A special event of gender-bender and leftist film. Proceeds benefit completion of filmmaker Oakie Treadwell's upcoming feature. Live music by Infernal Noise Brigade! Sat., April 8 @ 8PM

Innocence - Supernatural French fairy tale about an all-girls boarding school in the middle of the woods. April 14-20 @ 7PM and 9:30PM

Private - This film, which ran last week as part of the Seattle Arab and Iranian Film Festival, was Italy's official submission to this year's Academy Awards for Best Film in a Foreign Language, but was rejected because its primary language is not Italian. - Daily @ 7PM and 9PM plus  Sat and Sun @ 3PM and 5PM
