Pick our name! Fill-in-the-Blank: April 17, 2006
Filed under: Independent, Podcasts, RumorMonger, Celebrities and Controversy, DIY/Filmmaking, Quentin Tarantino, Robert Rodriguez, Weinstein Brothers, Contests, Fill-In-The-Blank, Cinematical Indie

Today in the podcast: news on the tax incentive exodus, the weekend dominance of Scary Movie 4, and the end of Grind House. But, more importantly, we've narrowed down the options for our new name, and we want you to vote. Note that some of the submissions we received were great, but, unfortunately, were already in use by other sites. So let us know what you think, and we'll post your decisions later this week.
CNN: Cinematical News Network - Suggested by reader Proteus
Cinematicast - Suggested by reader Alex
Cinephilia - Suggested by reader James P.
CINE:TV - Suggested by Karina, writer/host of this podcast
Fill-in-the-Blank - Should we just keep the temp name? That's been thrown out by many including Randall, the producer/editor of this podcast.

Cinematicast or Cinephelia. Probably the former.

Can I vote for my own? If so, I do. (Because, dammit, when people hear someone say CNN, they ought to think of something cool and useful, for a change.) And if not, I'd lean towards CINE:TV.

To be honest I think all of the suggested names suck - keep Cinematical - what's wrong with it?
Cinephilia - too close to pedophilia
CNN: Cinematical News Network - CNN will sue you for trademark and copyright violations
Cinematicast - What? This sounds dumb and is too close to cinematical to make a difference.
CINE:TV - This is a blog about films and movies isn't it? What the fuck does TV have to do with anything on this site? Are you going to ruin the site by including more TV show coverage? This is dumber than the pedophile and cinematicast suggestions.
Or maybe create a new post that more clearly asks for reader submissions and ideas. Maybe that is why so few seemed to have suggested and voted here, because the title is not clear as to what is being asked for...

Sorry, Law School, but I think you totally misunderstood. We're looking for a name for our video podcast. We're not renaming the blog as a whole. We asked for submissions for names almost 2 weeks ago; people have been voting, in this post, for their favorites from the best of what has been submitted. We're not adding coverage of TV; the Cine:TV name came from the fact that Randall and I think of this podcast as our little TV show. But your criticism of all of the above are duly noted.

I change my vote to "Pedophilia". We'd get more traffic than ever.

Cinematicast makes too much sense not to use. It has a nice ring to it, so it gets my vote.

I suggest "Scinematology" or "Sermons in Scinematology".
The Xenu thing has been beaten to death, I know. But journalistic titles aren't reaaly expected to be fresh or funny, they're merely expected to be once removed from the obvious.
