Even More on '24'

Other details Sutherland offered were confirmation that the movie will be shot during the show's summer break in 2007 (the script is currently "in development"), and the fact that he thinks the movie(s) and TV show can successfully pursue two totally different story lines and still be successful. Hmm. Me, I wonder about that one -- if in the movie, Jack accidentally, say, tears his ACL, but is running around on the TV with no limping or surgery? That'd be sort of hard to accept. Or, sports injuries aside, what if someone DIES (I know it's a long shot, since things are usually so safe on 24, but just go with it) in the movie? Are we supposed to just accept them wandering by on TV? Or am I overthinking this?

What's with the dig at Rush? He didn't report the story - the words came out of Joel Surnow's mouth. Find me a more reliable source than that, meanwhile I'd suggest leaving the political jabs out of your cinematical posts.

Whoa Tim, easy... it was a sarcastic joke.
As for actual deaths, I'd doubt a major charecter would die, since if it happens overseas, they could easily write in a bunch of charecters from MI:5, and then Jack's support team could be safe at CTU, or wherever.

Double story lines is a terrible idea. And Tim, Rush Limbaugh is a fool.

I don't see what the problem is with different storylines. It will just be like an extra series. Each series so far has had a seperate storyline, afterall.
Basically, if they want to kill anyone off in the film, or in the series, they aren't going to be so stupid as to let them overlap. They're a clever bunch.

They're going to go the X-Files route - big cliffhanger at the end of a season that leaves you needing to see the movie.
Oh, and I agree with Sonja -

I'm a bit disappointed about the lack of real-time. But I guess otherwise they'd have to call the film "Two hours and twenty minutes" or somesuch foolishness.
I also agree with Sonja.

Kiefer made a comment about filming in London in the UK Guardian newspaper a few weeks back, although I think that was for next season rather than a movie. Could that come into it at some point?

I totally disagree with Sonja. It think two different is the only way to make it work. Otherwise, you would have to ensure that everyone who watched the movie would watch the show and vice-versa.
I think you could do something *related* to the show, but having the movie be something that you have to watch to complete the plot of the show or requiring that people watch the show in order to understand the movie would be stupid. The X-Files movie proved that.
The movie, in order to be both good and successful, needs to compliment the show and be a way to draw in new viewers.

I agree with Partly, it needs to be something that anyone; loyal viewer or not could "get"..but honestly..I am such a big fan that I would go see it regardless..

I have never seen this episode. Don't know anything about this show or the movie but somehow I came across this board and didn't want to feel left out so I'm going to put my two cents in here... I agree with whatever Sonja said.

I have to wonder Ms. Fischer, if you have not turned in your CTU badge for a gander into the unknown world of the totally "Lost". THE best writers of action-packed TV have agreed to produce 3 movies of the very same - what more could we ask for ?

I don't care how the movie is related to the show or if someone dies in the movie if they die in the show. All I care about is that jack Bauer is going to kill more terrorists. Everyone who wathes the show only watches it to see jack bauer kill people. As so =ng as Jack is a big part in the movie I don't care about anything else.

Are you over thinking this at all? YES! How many people sit and watch one movie and while watching it ponder about the separate lives and separate movies that those same actors have been in? Geeze, overthink hydrogen fuel cells or travel to the sun, but not movies!

This is one of the most poorly written articles I have ever read. Ms. Fischer, I think you may need to return to high school.

It'll probably resemble "Mission: Impossible" crossed with "Speed" or "Die Hard". Or perhaps be globetrotting action adventure in the vein of Bond or the Jason Bourne films.
