Hazzard Sequel Heads Straight to DVD

Even with its three main stars bailing on the franchise as
if it were infected with a career-ending disease, The Dukes of
Hazzard will indeed be returning ... to a much smaller screen. However, instead of a traditional sequel, it
appears as if they're going with a prequel for their sequel. Yee-haw! According to Cinema Blend, the casting notice
for the film also lists it as "straight to DVD."
So, will we find them Duke boys strutting around in diapers? Almost. The plot for the film is said to focus on the boys as teenagers, while we follow them through their first wild confrontations with Boss Hogg. There's something in there about Uncle Jesse and the origins of Daisy's dukes but, in the end, does anyone really care what this movie will be about? As Martha stated previously, Johnny Knoxville, Sean William Scott, Burt Reynolds and Jessica Simpson will have nothing to do with the prequel. Such a shame, seeing as the first one was just so entertaining. Oh well, perhaps Jessica wants to move onto bigger and better things. Either that, or she's just swapping out the Dukes for a bathing suit.

First, American Pie. Now, this.
Has Hollywood resorted to reviving every franchise Seann William Scott abandons with a pathetic DTV "sequel"?

Wait a sec....Baywatch movie? And Hollywood wonders why movie receipts keep dropping? It's pretty sad when Cable TV and even CBS create more cinema-worthy entertainment than the actual movie studios.

the thing that saddens me is how many more dodge chargers will be totaled for the sake of a stupid movie when collectors have to search high and low to find one to restore and they go and tear them up for the sake of a stupid movie then the wrecks end up on ebay all twisted and messed up as yard ornaments. leave the chargers alone and go wreck a stupid mustang

This is my opinion only but I hated the new Dukes of Hazzard movie. It was nothing like the regular Dukes and unless you get the original cast to do it, it will not be worth a flip. You can only get a few of them cause the rest have passed on. I bet they have rolled over in their graves seeing themselves in that so called remake. I don't have anything against the actors but they just weren't Dukes!!! They do not need to make another film in diapers or as teenagers. I have watched this since it first came on and I am so disappointed that someone would try to remake something that can never be remade. Leave well enough alone.

the movie was horrible and was a slap in the face to the original tv show. if any kind of dukes is done again they should get some good script writers who know their dukes facts and write one last reunion show with what's left of the original cast. the first reunion was ok, but had some major errors in it, and the second one was just kinda sad in most respects. a third one to finish things off done in the tradition of the original show should be the only dukes project thought of as the movie franchise would be better off having all copies burned and erased from history.

Although it may have been entertaining the jessica simpson, sean william scott, and johnny knoxville version of the dukes of hazzard was a slpa in the face of real dukes fans, the star of the movie was deffinately the CAR. The original Dukes were a family oriented show not a cheap skin flick, and I agree that the waste of such a great car that is increasingly hard to find is a tragedy, Please let the Dukes alone. Denver Pyle would turn over in his grave if he saw the last attempt at a Dukes Movie and now this? As if we don't have enough no-name actor sequels/prequels whatever. There will never be another Dukes of Hazzard that was as successlful as the first.

My entire family and our friends like the one with John Schieder and the other caracters. We have not wasted our money or our time looking at the remake of Dukes of Hazzard.

I watched the show growing up and I've watched movie remakes of other shows in the last few years. Most of the remakes I've seen are fun to watch because they take you down memory lane by somewhat poking fun of the decade and trends back when, while reminding of us the foundation of the shows we liked to watch. Any show that tries to copy an original is never going to be accepted, they could never compare. This is where I think they failed in the Dukes remake - what were they trying to do, copy the show with a different cast, or tried and failed to create a parody? My idea of comedy I'm sure is different from others, but I felt that they did a great job of creating a movie parody of "Starsky and Hutch." In fact, when I originally heard they were remaking "Dukes" I could think of no one better to be Bo, Luke, and Daisy than Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, and Carmen Elektra. I think a remake in the same fashion as "Starsky and Hutch" with those three as the main cast members, would still be a hit.

i was a kid when dukes of hazzard was still on the air but i am whatching the repeats on cmt and i really like the dukes and tha car. i never shaw the movie, but from what i here, it sucks. they do need to do a third reunion of the orginal cast from dukes of hazzard and include corey and vance and have the hole duke family together. that would be a blast.

I can't believe they made the first movie; I can't believe they're making a f***ing pre/se-qual!
What they need to do is get the original cast back, and have them tell it as if it were the show. Have it be a farewell to Denver "Uncle Jesse" Pyle. Sh**! Even the Coy and Vance episodes were better than that Jessica Simpson, Seann William Scott, Johnny Knoxville piece of crap! -I will admit, I did like Burt Reyolds and Willie Nelson as Boss Hogg and Uncle Jesse, respectively.

and yes.. THE PEOPLE WHO ARE MAKING THESE REMAKES AND SEQUELS: PLEASE, KNOCK IT THE FU** OFF!!!!
Make some more original pieces of crap, and less remakes of pieces of crap. I am sure most people would rather see a new piece, than an old piece!

Oh come on, people the movie was meant to be FUNNY, not a copy of the TV show. There will never be anybody to take the place of the Dukes as we remember them......the movie was just funny.....although, it did strike me as odd to hear any Duke use the "f" word......but I got over it.

I don't see why they made the first movie. I guess Jessica Simpson just wanted to show her body off, so she can get more money, or show her true nature for she is really dumb, and no brains just beauty. The first movie had no purpose so why ruin the good memories of the first true dukes.....Save us ALL the torture and don't ever make another movie!

Yes, I'm sure they intended for the movie to be funny - but don't tell me you actually thought it was?! I agree with the person who said it was a waste of money! Mine, everyone else who paid to see it, and especially the producers!

I hated this movie. Having Jessica Simpson play Daisy was humiliating to Catherine Bach. Daisy never looked like a slut. AS for the other actors they are good in other movies but not in this one. I watched the original series when I was younger and now reruns on CMT, and they show how the real Dukes were.

Pathetic. It concerns me that the mentality and maturity level of American's continues to decline. Movies like this only accelerate it.
