Casino Royale Teaser in the Wild!

Captured from French television, the first Casino Royale teaser is now roaming the internet in all of its cold, flinty glory. But before I go into that, a caveat: Timothy Dalton is my favorite Bond. I realize that, in some circles, this means that I'm completely insane, but I love the darker, nasty Bond who's more pissed-off than anything else, and often a little too busy dealing with his rage issues to seduce every lady who wanders by. So, you've been warned -- read the following with my Bond-leanings in mind.People, this teaser is fantastic. The opening is shot in gorgeous black and white, and the whole thing reminds me more of the best no-nonsense, 70s action flicks than it does most of the Bond franchise. And, while he's never going to much resembled the Bond of our collective memory, Daniel Craig looks, well, amazing (that's Bond-like, right?), and commands the hell out of the few, tantalizing scenes we glimpse. I know it's just a teaser, and that the movie could still be horrifically bad and everything, but damn. This thing has me looking forward to the movie for the first time -- go check it out, and let us know what you think.

Liking that a lot, actually. It's definitely got some "heights" to it, and the B&W makes the intro all the better. I was bummed at the end though, as it looks like the "Bond, James Bond" got cut off.

I always thought Dalton was under appreciated. (And FWIW he still tops my list of guys who should play Tony Stark aka Iron Man).
I'm also a firm believer that the Bond series should be set only in the late 50s/early 60s.

Works for me, my friend.
I actually really liked George Lazenby as Bond, so if you think your rep is in the crapper, move aside.
But Craig looks FANTASTIC. A very 21st-c Bond.
(although I agree with 0013 that Bond should always be set in the time in which it was first written, as it doesn't really work as Bond in modern day)

Dalton's also my favorite (I tend to like the dark horses anyway) so I had to take a peak. Damn, that is one hell of a trailer! Daniel Craig is an excellent actor and Danjaq seems to have taken a refreshing variation on the theme. I may actually look forward to a Bond film for the first time in years.
I don't believe Bond should languish in the Cold War, however I think the character should remain faithful to the novels. It looks like I might get my wish after all.

This trailer was fantastic! I have been looking forward to CR since I heard Craig would be doing it, but now I can't WAIT for November! I think this should live up to fans' expectations.

I wish I was as enthusiastic. Of course, I'll be there opening day, and would be even if they'd cast Justin Timberlake. Such is life for a Bond geek.
Craig will be like Dalton (who wasn't bad at all). My problem with the two Dalton Bonds is that I prefer Bond when he's facing something sci-fi and cosmic, with current events and personalities turned up a notch. (Think of how many people said Outfoxed was the first anti-Murdoch movie--what about Tomorrow Never Dies?) After all, there's so many things that can only be done in a James Bond film on the grounds that it IS a James Bond film.
Casino Royale sure looks like it was made by people who saw the grosses of the Jason Bourne movies and turned pale. Anyway, it will be an interesting approach, and I did like very much the scene of Dench conferring our hero with his license to kill.

Nice. I became a Daniel Craig fan after seeing Layer Cake. I think he's the perfect cat to plat Bond. Nice trailer.

You must be joking?
Ian Fleming thought Sean Connery was too common to be James Bond. I wanted to give this guy a chance and see him as Bond in the trailer first. Talk about common. Mayve scruff is a better term? I think I'll wait 'til the movie comes to the USA network.
