Star Wars TV is Still Far, Far Away

Star Wars fans the world over have been unable to decide how to feel about the
pending creation of a Star Wars TV series. Sure, Star
Wars is well beloved, but the new trilogy created some ... shall we say doubt ... about George Lucas' script writing abilities these days. However, the general
improvement from Ep 1 to Ep 3 was encouraging, and the tantalizing prospect of more
Star Wars keeps hope alive in the hearts of many a fan. Well Lucas and company are giving you plenty of time
to deal with these feelings, as recent comments by producer Rick
McCallum suggested recently there's still a LOT of work to be done before the show becomes a reality. Script
writers haven't even been hired yet, despite announcements some time ago about interviews. As for the story itself,
Rick's actual quote was "George is starting to start the basic concept of it." Boy, that's encouraging. Rick
denied rumors of the new series focusing around members of the Skywalker clan, but did say "think bounty hunter.
That's all I can tell you."Okay seriously, what the heck is with the crazy bounter hunter and Boba Fett fetish (Boba Fettish?) among Star Wars fans? Dude was in a few moments of the original trilogy and got killed* by a blind guy. How a man that inept turned into a the greatest bounty hunter of all time in the collective minds' of SW fans I'll surely never understand. Don't get me wrong, fans, I think he's a fun character -- I just can't figure out why. It must've been the animated segment from The Holiday Special ...
*Don't give me any of that "Sarlaac was unable to digest his armor" nonsense either. That's one of my least favorite elements of the Extended Universe. He's dead, and he got dead by being unlucky and clumsy. End of story. Yes, I know Lucas considered adding a fan service scene showing his survival when he recently remade the movie, but his original script and story had Fett dying. And really ... which Lucas do you want to listen to; the one who created the original trilogy, or the one who created Jar Jar?

Yes. As I indicated, I'm painfully familiar with the status of Boba Fett. The character's story has been retconned so many times it hurts my soul.
I'm sticking with Lucas' original script/story, although I knew as I wrote this post many, many fans would violently disagree. And that's cool -- you guys are accurate by current EU canon. I'm just a classic triology guy, even though I've read (and enjoyed) most of the EU stories.

Wow, a Star Wars show about a bounty hunter. Sheesh--there's something interesting!
How about a show that revolves around characters we can actually identify with? You know, like the characters in the original trilogy? The small-town/farm boy, the guy who drives the sooped up hotrod, the cute "virtuous" girl next door (who happens to be the daughter of a really rich powerful guy). It doesn't have to be about Luke and Leia growing up or any of the original characters, I just want to give a crap about the characters--unlike the prequel trilogy where all I cared about was the scene where Anakin gets hacked to bits.
First a Star Trek prequel movie is announced and now they want to do a Star Wars TV show, I think they should probably just leave both franchises alone for a good decade or so.

The big deal about Boba Fett was that his life was such a mystery. An entire TV show devoted to him might cause some "over exposure" and decrease interest. There are bounty hunters besides Fett in Star Wars, so don't jump to conclusions. Aurra Sing and Dengar are only a couple bounty hunters that I find fasinating. It would be REALLY cool to see Fett, or any other great hunter, hunt down the remaining Jedi across the galaxy. Daniel Logan (Boba Fett Episode II) has expressed interest in a TV show. I hope Star Wars isn't going anywhere, and even if the show sucks, it will still be the best show on TV.

What do you expect him to say? McCallum just whetting our appetites.
I predict the show will be about the start of the rebellion with Bail Organa (Jimmy Smits is mainly a TV actor after all), some fugitive Jedi from order 66 being chased around by Darth Vader, maybe aided by some smugglers, maybe a young Lando Calrissian and a certain Wookiee who survived the genocide on Kashyykk.
Also, the whole thing has to be through the "eyes" of R2-D2 and C-3PO. Remember, C-3PO tells master Luke "after all we've been through", and the whole series is seen through their eyes, it's just like the classic Kurosawa movie "Hidden Fortress" where everything is seen through the eyes of two insignificant peasants.
As for the bounty hunters, Vader will surely employ them here and there to look for some Jedi.
The book "Dark Lord Rising" which is the official sequel to ROTS centers around a group of Jedi fugitives being chased around by Vader. It's a great book.
The Skywalkers will not be heard from in the series. The kid is just gonna grow up doing boring farm work yearning for adventure and not getting it till episode IV.
I for one cannot wait.

I wonder if the bounter hunter hint might really mean the series is about young Han Solo and Chewbacca (with other major characters as supporting characters or making cameo appearances)?
I like Boba Fett a lot (though wouldn't consider myself as being a big fan) but can't really imagine a whole series where he's the main character.
For now, my money is on a show about Solo, and his arch-nemesis Fett. Fingers crossed!

Yea, you don't get it. None Star Wars fans will never get why we Star Wars geeks like Bobba Fett so much. If you can't guess, than it's just a waste of time explaining. Let us have our Bobba Fett being alive and quite bashing Star Wars.

Or misspell a character's name that you're defending. That was a nice touch. Btw, where's TK421?

After E1 I remember reading an article in the Insider about Michelle Bouriage (misspelled I'm sure). She played Aurra Sing. I had the pleasure of meeting her once at the SciFi expo in Dallas. Anyway, the article explained how George Lucas was personally involved in her casting, photo shoots, and film shoots for the movie. There was mention from Lucas about her having a very important role in what I took to be the "Grand scheme of things."
I anticipated her character to return in E2 or E3 since her role in E1 was about 1.2 seconds. Since that didn't happen I resigned myself to the belief she was just to be a comic book character or a cool looking action figure.
Now I have a new theory. First rumors about the tv show were 1. Tatooine and 2. bounty hunter. Maybe everyone thinks Tatooine means Skywaler and bounty hunter means Boba Fett, but I think I could be on to something. Of course, I've been wrong before.

OK for the record, and the non-star wars die-hards...Boba Fett was a rogue..he answered to no one and accepts no moral dilema. He is a perfect nihilist..He could be good..he could be bad..but more importantly-you as a viewer or fan has no reason to feel torn about liking or sympathizing with this character. Most people are kind of that way in the real world...i don't know alot of small town heroes..but i know alot of good people that had it hard and were forced to follow a path laid out for them-He is the antithesis of a free spirit in a good versus evil/Carl Jung formula..and a complete accident..he looks cool and his outfit was just a stormtrooper throwaway- i think? Anyways..Some people should stop drinking hatorade..this show is for a star fan's money.Give us Fett once and for all ,and not some 10 year old cameo..not a digitally added walk by...a real awsome one shot by the only real pirate in the starwars universe..how can that be bad?

umm yeah if you really did know anything about the Star Wars movies let alone franchise, you would know that Boba Fett did not die. He's in a bunch of different books, games and other crap all approved by George Lucas. If you dont believe me try playing Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, you have to fight Boba Fett, so unless your'e telling me something about like the undead coming back alive then i think he is alive
