Finally: A Full Pan's Labyrinth Trailer

Every since we discovered Guillermo del Toro's Pan's Labyrinth, we've been all over it. Aside from the teaser, though, most of what we've seen has been stills -- concept art, images from the movie, creepy-ass creatures with eyes in their hands, that sort of thing. Even the teaser was more atmosphere than anything else, so we've been frustratingly unable to actually see the scary things in action, or to get a sense of whether our eagerness to see the movie is warranted. Finally, though, that's changed: the Spanish trailer (Spanish-speaking readers, please help us out with the dialogue and titles, if you're so inclined) has shown up online, and it's awfully promising.Gross, nightmarish creatures? Check. Air of creeping terror? Check. Unmistakable, del Toro-style dark, haunted atmosphere (the colors and feel remind me of Mimic)? Check. What's really cool about it, though, is its combination of the real-life horror of Franco's fascism with the main character's haunted fantasy world. While all the summaries of the film include reminders of the movie's setting, we tend to get so caught up in the surreal images of the fantasy portion that we forget that it's grounded in very real events -- if nothing else, the trailer's a reminder of how complex the movie (hopefully) will be. Of course, we won't know for sure until the end of September. Sigh.
