Bunny, Ball Ball: A Hudson Hawk Anniversary DVD!
Filed under: Action, Comedy, Sony, Fandom, Home Entertainment
I can't believe that Hudson Hawk came out in 1991 -- it doesn't seem like it could possibly have been that long ago that I sat in a massive, dead-silent theater, trying to muffle my hysterical laughter in a sweatshirt so as not to get ejected from the place. Yes, life for all four of us Hudson Hawk fans has been hard since day one but now, finally, our devotion is being rewarded: Sony is releasing a 15th anniversary special edition DVD this summer. Woo hoo!Though the DVD is STILL lacking a commentary track (Bruce, come on. You know no one is buying the movie apart from your mom and the handful of us who love it -- talk to us, man!), it does include welcome new transfer, as well as some deleted scenes and a couple of featurettes. I don't want to rave too much about the movie here (I'll save that for Guilty Pleasures), but suffice to say that you haters are missing out. No, really. You are.

Thanks for that pic, Martha. I forgot how goofy David Caruso is in that film.
I think for a Da Vinci fix, I'll rewatch Hudson Hawk instead of that new film. What's it called?

The original DVD has a commentary track. I've listened to it; just the other morning got my girlfriend to watch the movie. BTW, 5 of us saw it opening night and we LOVED it. Great F-U to the retarded macho films of the 1980s. We still go around quoting Richard E Grant's character.

Not to worry, here's another HUGE fan, right here!
People have no idea how great this film really is. Pure entertainment. Laugh a minute. Did I tell you how much I love this film? Every time I am supping on a lovely hot cappucino, I think of this film. This film alone started the Starbucks/Coffee Bean craze - do people even know that? Perfect amount of foam.......
I don't get what people don't get about this film!

Woo hoo! Awesome. We need to start a support group.
And bgdc, I somehow totally missed that. Now I have to try to track down that old dvd, dammit. (Yes, I'd been surviving on my VHS tape. Shush.)

I'm another Hudson Hawk lover, and will watch it every time I come across it on cable. It's just such a great, funny, silly movie. "Would you like to swing on a star..."

A girlfriend bought me the Hawk soundtrack on CD in 1994. I just recently moved all my stuff to 256kbps mp3s and sold my CDs...the shop gave me $6 for the Hawk CD and said it was rare. lol

Fear not fellow Hudson fans, you are not alone.
I gotta say that I totally agree with everything you guys said, this move was great and I never understood why if flopped so bad.
It's so funny with the CIA candy bar agents and the Vatican and all the banter. I already own the DVD but I think I'll have to pick this up too.
