Cannes Photoblog #6: Cannes-biance 2!
Taken from inside the Lumiere theater -- the big house at Cannes -- you can see the press corps assembling beore the 8:30 am screening of Marie Antoinette ... and more of the sights of Cannes are after the jump.
One of the best things at Cannes is Le Cinema du Plage -- a screen set up on pilings in the surf, where films are shown in the evening for free. This year's schedule represents the usual Plage modus operandi -- a crazy-cool mix of movies.
The French film industry advertises like crazy in Cannes, as you'd think they might -- here's ads for the ensemble drama Family Hero and Luc Besson's computer-animated, long-in-the-making Arthur and the Minimoys.
The view of the Mediterranean sea from behind the American Pavillion.
If, while at Cannes, you're alone, and life is making you lonely you can always go downtown. Downtown! That's where the lights are bright! Downtown! Waiting for you tonight! Downtown! It's gonna be allright now!

James, it's ALWAYS great to read your reviews. Glad to see you still keeping it real -- especially in France! You need to contact Mark & Dave at markmason@1190kex.com, okay?

I'm so glad they let you out of the screening room--that's what I thought would be the heinous side of the festival*, not actually being able to see much of the outside world. Amazing to think of free beachside screenings of Visconti--why is it always "Grease" when they do it out here in California?
*except for seeing Marie Antoinette at 8:30 in the morning, that is.
