Sean Bean Thumbs a Ride

A couple of weeks ago when Sean Bean was cast in A Woman of No Importance, I mentioned how nice it was to see him in a non-glowering role, at least on this side of the Atlantic. The guy really got his start as a romantic lead, and has done a lot of great work in the same vein for British TV. Over here, though, ever since Jack Ryan killed his baby brother, it's been hard for him (apart from when he's hobnobbing with hobbits) to play anything but a baddie. And it looks like our Sean actually gets antsy when he's not making somebody's movie life miserable, because he's going back to his villainous Hollywood roots with a doozy: Bean is taking over for Rutger Hauer in the upcoming remake of The Hitcher. A stroll around the internets suggests that, in something of a miracle for a remake, fans are thrilled by this casting news -- hey, if nothing else, Bean's got the same color hair as Hauer, right? What say you, Hitcher fans: Is Bean the right guy to scare the bejesus out of Sophia Bush?

Good God! Why are they remaking The Hitcher? After I saw it I felt like I was beaten with a club! That movie was much more horrific than any slasher film (which are mostly laughable) because the violence and charaters seemed real and the evil hwas totally unexplainable. I think that it was the dismemberment of a prety girl that one had expected to live (by having a truck pull her apart - mercifully not shown) that really freaked everybody out.

Ok I dont really care what Sean appears in -he could sell snow to the eskimo's and he would still be sublimley sexy as hell--- but The Hitcher!!! this is a classic film and Rughter Hauer is evil incarnate in it. I know Sean can do "baddies" eg Lovelace, Sean Miller etc but I do think he will have to "up a gear" for this role, it will be either fantastic or crap. Dont mis-understand me I love Sean, got all his stuff etc but I hope he does well in it, The Hitcher -dontthink his Yorkshire brouge is going to cut it, and hopefully he masters the american accent, although I did love him in North Country!!!. Anyway still love him, still want him good luck to him in the role.MA

If not one of the greatest British theatrical performers, Sean Bean is, at least, on the upper part of the ladder, therefore, a remake could be even better if the newcomer does a better job. So, if Sean proves himself a better villain that the previous one, he will knock them off their feet..... and it is not merely the face and the voice...... it is his aura.
