Quick Update: It IS a Zombie Halloween!
Filed under: Horror, Deals, The Weinstein Co., Remakes and Sequels
Just yesterday we shared a report that sounded like half-news / half-geek gossip, but through the magic of a Weinstein Company Press Release, we now have the truth: Rob Zombie WILL be directing a new Halloween installment, although nobody seems to be precisely sure if it'll be a remake, a sequel, a prequel, or a feature-length Trent Reznor video. All we know for certain is that the deal is done, the details are under wraps, and the release date is October of '07.Courtesy of BD.com, we get promises like "This new movie will not only appeal to horror fans, but to a wider movie-going audience as well," and "It will not be a copycat of any prior films in the Halloween franchise," which sounds pretty good to me, I suppose. In his own blog, Mr. Zombie seems unwilling to simply call the thing a remake: "Call it a remake, an update, a reimagining or whatever, but one thing that [sic] for sure is this is a whole new start ... a new begining with no connection to the other series."
"No connection" -- except for the pre-existing and ravenous fanbase, eh, Rob?

I'm a total fan of Rob's music, comics, and movies and I'm a fan of the Halloween franchise, even if some of the installments were pretty horrid. This will definately be on the top of my "Must See" list next October...

This is quite possibly the worst, most depressing news I've heard in I don't know how long.

I think Rob Zombie is a bad choice for this his movies are awful and Halloween deserves better than this 3rd rate director.....
