Forget Lohan, Alba Fits the Bill

As Chris reported the other day, the great Lindsay Lohan (I agree with Chris, by the way, about Mean Girls. I also liked Lohan a lot in Freaky Friday. What the hell happened?) bailed on indie project Bill, ostensibly due to scheduling conflicts. Word on the street, however, is that she has had enough of the independent scene (whether it's because her trailer isn't nice enough or because she actually has problems with inexperienced directors is anyone's guess) -- time will tell on that one, obviously.Bill directors Bernie Goldmann and Melisa Wallack clearly aren't deeply in mourning over the loss of La Lohan, however. Instead of crying in their beer, they've turned around and hired Jessica Alba to replace her in the role, a casting decision that, if nothing else, should prompt a bunch of teenage boys to make their first visits to arthouse theaters.
The movie, which starts shooting tomorrow (you can see why they were in a hurry to replace Lohan), is about "a man fed up with his job who finds his wife in bed with a local news anchor. He regains a lost sense of self by mentoring an unruly teen and finds inspiration in an intriguing young saleswoman." In addition to Alba, Bill stars Aaron Eckhart as the angry man, Elizabeth Banks and (Yay!) Timothy Olyphant.

Inexperienced indie directors? Like Robert Altman (fine, P.T. Anderson)? I'm no Lindsey Lohan afficionado, but I'm not aware of any indie work she's done besides "Prairie Home Companion."

Well it wasn't Altman that allegedly drove her off, Porchland, it was the newbies making Bill. Hell, PTA and Altman were so great she was all about indies after leaving them, right? (Again, allegedly.)

Porchland, I'm not really sure which films that she has made and hasn't but if you go to my blog you will see that most of the films she's working on/has worked on/will work on are by relatively inexperienced directors (with the exception of Georgia Rule w/ Garry Marshall and Bobby w/ Emilio Estevez if you want to count him as being experienced)
Check out the list.

Lindsey Lohan has every right to be selective when she's accepting projects but she seems to be getting a bit egotistical lately too.

Ok, seeing a movie with Lindsay Lohan (except Prairie Home Companion, which I'm really looking forward to seeing, not because of her).... can do without; seeing a movie with Jessica Alba.... priceless. I think Jessica Alba is a really good actress and can do comedy and drama and/or action well. I loved her in the MTV movie awards. My husband has a huge crush on her, and I do not care at all, because if I were a guy, I would too.... she is hot!

Altman an indie director? Pleeeze. When was the last time an indie director was so celebrated at the Academy Awards? Not only is he no indie director, he's also one of the most over-rated Hollywood directors out there. Jessica Alba is a seasoned actress. Lindsay Lohan's cache is her celebrity, which Altman films depend upon for casting.

Why do people buy into this crap? Did you ever think she might have bagged on the production because the script sucked?

Who cares about Jessica or Lindsay? You guys should pay more attention to the rest of the cast: Aaron Eckhart, Elizabeth Banks, and Timothy Olyphant...three of the most talented yet underrated actors in Hollywood today. Ok, Elizabeth Banks not so much; but Eckhart and Olyphant, definitely!

I hate to sound nasty...I'm not...Really...lol It's just Lohan has developed this "reputation" for being a party girl, a tara reid, Paris Hilton, type , I saw her in "The parent trap" she was a kid, I think She got a decent start but NOW, I think no matter WHAT she does we will see her in that light.... Party girl, out there, not REALLY interested in serious work. She has worked too hard showing us her Paris side for us to see her seriously...I don't know she can change that now...

Lohan is just a skank from Long Island. Just My Luck tanked and Herbie was no better. The only time her movies did well was when a veteran was in there acting with her. ( Jamie Lee, Meryl ) Need I say more?
I know you will all jump on me for this but, I DON'T CARE!!!

Lohan seems to be getting a too good for her own britches attitude it seems. As for Prarie Home Campanion, it's one of the worst and stupidest movies I've ever seen. Jessica Alba is a far better choice for Bill. It's sad to see that Lohan couldn't give someone a chance, I'm sure that someone did to get her career going. Bill has not lost anything, in losing Lohan, but gained someone with a heart.

Wow, they make the story line sound almost as rivetingly fascinating as bread pudding. Sorry, I don't think anything short of Jessica doing the full noodle could persuade me to sit through such a stirring tale of lameness and mediocrity.
Why do Indie Directors always equate "Art" with "somnambulism?"
