Rumors Don't Get Stranger than PeeWee Herman as The Joker

I know the Batman Begins rumor mill will be churning for some time; the film has a while until production begins and with big title films there are always a thousand crazy rumors floating around regarding casting news and whatnot. Most of them are easily rejected, while a select few seem plausible enough or come from confirmed, legitimate sources. And sometimes, there are rumors so absurd they just make your jaw drop. I suggest you put on a chinstrap, because this one is jaw drop city.Batman on Film is the place for Batman rumors. They've got connections like crazy, and they are always on top of their game. They generally weed through the junk, but they've recently shared something crazy just for the sheer wackiness factor. Apparently, some people actually watch G4 TV, and several of those people noticed a news scroller on the bottom of the screen declaring Paul Reubens as the Joker in the new Batman film. BOF insists this is crazy rumor, and Cinematical definitely agrees. Knowing G4 (yes, I'm admitting to watching it sometimes), it could have even been some sort of weird joke the audience didn't pick up on. Whatever it is, it is certainly amusing.

According to IMDB its more likely to be Paul Bettany from the DA Vinci Code fame. Maybe they got their Pauls mixed up.

This would be extra-strange considering Pee Wee Reubens was in Batman Returns as Papa Cobblepot, the baby-dumping daddy of the Penguin. Hopefully, Wee Whacker can land a role in every re-start of the series; maybe next time he'll play Alfred.

I think Paul Reubens (separate the man from the role, geez) would be an excellent choice as The Joker. He's got a nice strange look to him. I think he could take a stab as a more serious Riddler as well.

I'd say "Joey the Intern" from G4's cancelled show (formerly of TechTV) *Unscrewed with Martin Sargent* has a better chance of winning the part than Paul Reubens. Hasn't Reubens's alleged "art collection" rendered him persona non-grata on productions of this scale?
I'm going to say it again until it becomes a reality. Christopher Eccleston is the actor suited for the role of The Joker. Just as Monica Bellucci is perfect for Talia Al Ghul.
And G4 can go the way of TNN for all I care. Granted, they are a SpikeTV wanna-be already as it is. You know, TechTV got higher ratings than Bravo back-in-the-day despite it being situated in the third-tier-digital-plus-platinum spectrum by the folks at Comcast who later purchased the channel on the cheap from Paul Allen and subsequently ran it into the ground like a Tyco division. G4 gets worse ratings than the TV Guide Channel or the Golf Channel. So what do they know?

You know, I have to say, this isn't such a terrible rumor. I would never have thought of him in a million years, but the more I think about it, the more it seems like he might actually be really good for it. It is, after all, the JOKER we're talking about. It has to be someone who can play the unpredictable psychopath in such a way that you never know if he's going to give you flowers or cut your throat.

I'm in a commenting mood today! Woohoo!
I think Paul Reubens is hilarious, and I could see him as the Joker quite easily. He was my favorite in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer film (played Rutger Hauer's sidekick).
I do doubt that he would get the part, though. Believe it or not, the guy is 50 now. Just like I can ignore Woody Allen's transgressions, I can do the same with Paul Reubens.

Why not Vincent Cassel? After seeing the link below I think that he's a natural.

I'd vote for Pee Wee as The Riddler. Similar body type, twisted laugh etc. Could explore the P-Man's dark side.
