The Coreys Return -- to the Small Screen
Filed under: Casting, RumorMonger, Fandom, Newsstand
According to a frighteningly detailed report at Moviehole, it appears that Corey Haim and Corey Feldman have signed on to star in a new TV series that production company RDF USA will start pitching to networks tomorrow. Great news or sign of the apocalypse: You decide. According to Moviehole, the show is aiming to be the latest installment in the "Look, We're Playing Cleverly Fictionalized Versions of Ourselves!" subgenre that has erupted over the past 12 months or so (yes, I blame Curb Your Enthusiasm for Fat Actress, The Comeback, and So noTORIous). The plot, such as it is, will feature Corey #1 (That's Feldman) living a solid, suburban life with his wife and kid. All hell breaks lose, however, when that Crazy Corey #2 (Haim, for those of you with the attention spans of goldfish) -- "single and the total opposite of Feldman" -- shows up and screws up his stable, predictable existence.
If this one works, networks should expect to be fielding pitches from Judd Nelson in just a matter of minutes.

I loved Corey Haim back in the day. I used to have a huge crush on him, Even though the show probably won't last long, I'm going to watch to see what Haim looks like.

C'mon the Coreys weren't that bad! And if they're making fun of themselves (was that actually them on Robot Chicken?) it could be even better. I'm stayin' tuned.

I loved both Corey's back in the day, and would love to see this new show. I've prayed that Haim would clean up his act and get back to acting. He such a talented actor, so it was a bummer to watch him self-destruct. I hope he makes a comeback.

I, too loved "Dream a Little Dream" and the "Lost Boys", but come on now. Who wants to watch them now that they are older and their careers went to crap? I hope I am wrong and it turns out to be a good show, but even though I used to be fans of theirs, it just isn't the same. And as a married woman, I doubt this kind of show idea would interest me one bit!

I loved lost boys too. Just saw it again. First time since it came out. I noticed that Corey Haim had a poster of Rob Lowe (the famous one of him in white with his hand on his stomach) in his bedroom. I had the same one in my room. I can't believe I didn't notice that back in the day.

If you've ever seen E-True Hollywood Story about the rise and fall of Corey Haim, it is sad, but kind of humorous. I was a fan way back when, seeing that I was the same age as him during his film stardom. There's a part during the E-THS where Corey's being interviewed by a TV show, and he's whacked out on something and goes off on a jibberish, incoherent tangent that is so illegible, you can't help but laugh. I showed it to my daughter, who loves Lost Boys and License to Drive and said "See what happens when you get messed up with drugs". She couldn't believe he grew up to look and act this way. I think the new reality show would be a great TV watch nonetheless.

Oh yeah, Blame the crap that happens in the show on Corey Haim. THAT SUCKS. I love Corey Haim! Don't make him the bad guy, he's so much better than the other Corey. I can't wait to see Corey Haim back on TV but I think he should get all the good parts. How can I find out when this show will be on? LOVE YOU COREY H.

OK, shoot me NOW! It doesn't surprise me, at all, that someone (namely the Coreys) are trying to sell this concept. It's not like they have anything to lose. What truly baffles me is why anyone would care. Somebody--please hear me--quit killing TV. The dumbing down of America continues--AND THY NAME IS COREY.
