Two Characters Will Die in Harry Potter 7

J.K. Rowling is killing two characters off at the end of the seventh, and final, Harry Potter book. I know this news more directly relates to literature than movies, but it will certainly affect the film franchise, and since I stopped reading the series after #5 (I nearly even gave up on the films, but I finally just saw Goblet of Fire and was surprised to find it is the first great Harry Potter movie), and the fact that the books have been discussed here before, I find it appropriate.
Because I didn't read the sixth book, I couldn't tell you with logic who the two might be, although just about everyone thinks one of them will be Harry. Even Rowling hints at this: "I've never wanted to kill him off before the end of book seven, because I always planned seven books and that's where I want to go." Does that mean she did want to kill him at the end? She also told Britain's Channel 4 on Monday that she understands the desire to kill off the main characters in the end so that nobody else can resurrect them after she's done.
Then again, she says of her most recent draft of the final chapter, "One character got a reprieve, but I have to say that two die that I didn't intend to die." So that could mean that Harry is not one of these two. Perhaps he's the one who got a reprieve? The thing is, if you think about her comments, there is no certainty that only two will die. Heck, she could have killed off every character but the saved one.
The best way that I can relate to this is, what if George Lucas had killed off everyone at the end of Return of the Jedi, except Chewbacca? Okay, I'm sure many would have enjoyed seeing the Ewok village go up in flames.

You totally should read book 6: it's the best. And it'll make this news that much more tantalizing. The last 100 pages are perfect gripping thriller writing. It's bound to make the best movie, too. Plus, movie 5 will undboutably be better than the book because they'll be able to trim all that unnecessary mess Rowling threw in.

I love the HP books. They're thrilling, comical, and extremely addicting. I just don't know how I feel about all the dying that's been going on. I mean, I almost don't want to read the last one for the pure sake of continuing to believe all the characters we know and love are still alive, even if they really aren't. Losing someone as big as the person we lost last time was almost cruel. I'm not sure if I can handle another!

I've maintained since book 4 that she absolutely has to kill Harry of at the end of the series. It's perfectly in tune with theme of sacrificing himself so that others may live thats been building through the series and, as the perils he has to face become greater and greater through each novel, is the ultimate sacrifice.

Its also consistent with the logic of the story, especially the horcrux clues and Harry's scar.

The books 5 and 6 are fantastic! I think that it would be a huge mistake to kill Harry. Wasn't it supposed to be a universal ever-lasting story about how good wins over evil? I have read all the HP books three times now, and, one thing I'm sure of is that I won't read it again if Harry dies at the end. It's just too sad.

In the end Harry will have to die because I think that Voldermort might have made him a horcurx. The clues are his scar and his inherited powers from Voldermort.

It's just too obvious to kill Harry. She would have known we'd all come to the Horcrux conclusion thinking we'd solved the mystery on our own (How many of you thought "Wow I figured it out!"). I know one of the 2 deaths will obviously be Voldemort and the other will be either Draco Malfoy, McGonagall, or Hagrid. But it won't be Harry ... She may want to be different, but she's not stupid enough to kill one of the most beloved literary characters of all time. Besides, she'd have to know that the hate mail would never stop.

omg!!!! the books are way way better than the movie. they cut so much stuff off! it makes it hard to understand sometimes in the movie. besides, the book is how j.k.rowling intended it to be, it totally kills it, though i admit it would be a bit long. pplz talking about the deaths are so... it's not about who dies so much as why they die. i mean, if harry died to save many other lives it would be a lot more different than say, if he died at the hands of snape. i'm not saying that the person that dies doesn't matter, but it's not all about that. i just can't w8 to read the next book! (which are way better than the movies :P)

JKR won't kill Harry, she's just scaring us. She's making little threats about killing him, just to show usthat harry is ALL HERS, and she can do whatever she wants to him. That's why he has all those brushes with death, i.e Quirrel/Voldeort nearly killing him first year, 16 year old voldemort and the basilik second year, sirius third year, voldemort again forth year, voldemort again fifth year, snape sixth year. All those brushes with death are her way of screwing with us. She's like the guy who wrote Sherlock homes, she can kill him, but she'll be smart, and she won't.

Killing Harry makes sense in more then one way, if she's going to end the series it will be hard to do it with Harry alive. She's pretty much proven that Voldeort will not be the one dying, since he's yet to actually die. And it also makes sense in business, becuase she doesn't want someone creating new stores (take the Star Wars books for example) and publishing new books because it is indeed HER character she doesn't want someone recreating him, if she doesn't kill him, that is a possiblity.
However there is another way of killing off two main characters with out killing Harry, she could finally kill off Voldeort for the last and final time giving harry no real foe, becuase with out Voldeort there is no real following for him so the Death Eaters would simply go into hiding yet again... however, the problem with not Harry though is that you can always create a new antaginist out of one of the Death Eaters, like oh the one who killed our beloved friend in the last book. Killing Harry would make the most sense in many ways, but for a character that she seems to love so much, why would she? I don't think she will although it would make sense, I think just like everything it needs hype, and two main characters could be damn near anyone who has a major force in the book.

The Harry Potter books are amasing, I love them to bits. For the final book I don't think that Harry will die, it would just be to obvious. I thing either Hermione or Ron might get killed though. But then again both Harry and Voldermort could die. Harry might think that he is one of Voldermorts horcurx so he might make a plan to give his life so that someone else can kill Voldermort for him when he is dead. I also think that Snape might be on Harrys side and that he can read minds so the night when he killed Dumbledore he had actaly read his mind and Dumbledore had asked him to kill him. So Snape might be one of the only people getting infomation directly from Voldermort to help Harry.

Colud Dumbledore have taken Voldermorts idea of having horcrux's and have his own. So he might actualy still just be clinging onto his life so he can still help Harry destroy Voldermort and when thats done let himself go then? And who is going to be the new headteacher? Who is going to be dark arts teacher? Is it going to be either voldermort or Harry dying and the other surviving? I have loads of ideas on my mind and can't wait till the seventh book is out. I love the Harry Potter books but it is sad when someone dies but then it also makes the book more intersting. Why does it have to end at seven books? I'll have nothing to read!!!

The only thing for sure - the books have all been terrific - anticipating and waiting for the final one is incredible. But we do know it'll be great.

I dont believe that Rowling would be stupid enough to want to kill Harry. He's too great of a character. I wouldn't be able to read her books anymore. I mean, isn't killing Sirius and Dumbledore enough? And im still trying to digest the fact that Dumbledores gone! Even if it did make sense killing Harry, i wouldn't be able to handle all these deaths. And besides if she did kill him, someone could still start off again where she left off, just with a different persons piont of view.

After reading all the books, it does seem logical that Harry could be killed off. However, I hope he is not, after all he is 'the boy who lived!!' I guess Lupin will be one of the two people who will die, or maybe one of the Weaseley's?? Who knows, we have to wait - although with all these speculations going around, its getting more and more difficult to wait for the last book!! Whatever happens, we all love harry, and it has been a pleasure to be a part of his life, or is it the other way round?

Voldemort has to die, otherwise this series really would go on. Does Harry die? Maybe. Personally, I think that Snape or Malfoy are more likely. They've been integral parts to long to not be affected. Hermione and Ron will make it through.

Since the majority of J.K. Rowling's fans are children, especially under the age of 12, I think it would be cruel for Rowling to kill off Harry. He has been such a good example of someone who chooses to do the right thing and his death would be a slap in the face to the children who admire his bravery. Shame on J.K. if she kills him.....she would only be thinking of herself and her empire.
