Hey, Morons! People Can't Fly!
Filed under: Action, Foreign Language, Fandom, Newsstand, Comic/Superhero/Geek, Cinematical Indie
Apparently inspired by Krrish, the new Bollywood Superhero flick Mark told us about the other day, a man in India threw himself from the balcony in a movie theater in India last week. And no, he wasn't trying to kill himself -- he was trying to fly! Why, of course he was. Needless to say, no flying occurred, and he crashed to the ground and broke his leg. While it's unclear whether or not the movie was actually playing when the plunge occurred (one certainly hopes it was, because that would have been awesome), Krrish star Hrithik Roshan feels responsible for the "accident," and actually wrote an open letter to fans explaining to them that un-aided human flight is impossible. Not only that, but he felt the need to detail in the letter the training he received that enabled him to fly -- VIA THE MAGIC OF SPECIAL EFFECTS AND OTHER TECHNOLOGY -- in the film. Good LORD people. Have we really come to this? "This is hot, stupid" warnings on coffee cups, and people who play superheroes having to caution fans who think they have real powers? Man alive -- I really hope there aren't any aliens cultures watching us right now.

This is a perfect example of natural selection. The idiot should have been killed rather than just broke a leg...

Maybe he was pushed off the balcony to promote the film. In the still, the character in the film itself looks a lot like Nightwing from DC comics. (That would be the grown up Robin the boy wonder.) "Oh, thank God, it's Batman. Oh, wait, it's you, Nightwing, eh, you'll do, I guess."

I agree with the natural selection argument. If all of the idiots were allowed to kill themselves with scalding hot McDonalds coffee or throwing themselves off a roof after watching superman then statistically George Bush would have hurled his hideous coffee scared body off of an oil rig in texas instead of becoming president.

The world is too safe. Years ago fools like this would die, & die young, nowdays they don't. They just screw up the gene pool, breeding new fools. I doubt this is the first really stupid thing this idiot has done.

What a jackhole this guy is trying to jump off a balcony and fly. And I dont see why the star of the movie felt like he had to write a letter saying hes sorry and explaining that people cant fly un-aided. If yer stupid enough to think you can fly you deserve what ya get when you make that leap. Better that than the person thinkin they can do something else like head on someone at 100mph and have both live. Haha. The only way I'd feel sorry about this whole situation, this guy jumping off a balcony, was if he landed on an innocent person. HAHA. What a loser. Maybe he was trippin off shrooms or something.

It's crazy what some people do. There is no line between fantasy and reality anymore. Santa Claus isn't going to believe this one when I write him my yearly letter.

It's just amazing to me that the human species has survived as long as it has, as well as it has.

This also happened at Camp Gordon, GA in 1951. A new recruit said, "I can fly, I can fly!" Some of the other recruits held the door to the second floor barracks open and the recruit got a running start, spread his arms and dove off the balcony. I don't know how badly he was hurt. He was imitating Superman.

I can't believe that someone would be that stupid! I agree wih the shrooms theory, but seriously! Come on! If you are too stupid to knwo that people can't fly un-aided, then you probably shouldnt be going to see movies, you should be in an insane asylum.

Stupid is not new nor is it surprising. Look at history and read its diary. We expect that since those brilliant documents The Constitution and The Bill of Rights were writtent, stupidity had been eliminated. Guess again. We have reached that period in history where one realises that all men were not born equal. Our evolution occurs in spurts not in a steady stream. Let's hope that we get to all recognize a comic book is fiction and the real world requires study, knowledge, effort and inspiration as well as rational thought. Oh T. Jefferson, where art thou?

Now why couldn't we get those idiots in the Middle East to behave that way? The world would definately be a safer place for all mankind.

Why is everyone so amazed that this guy tried to fly? Surely we all know there are a lot of idiots out there. Stop wasting so much time reading and replying to this kind of news when you could be up in the sky practising your gliding and soaring techniques.
