Aliens and Predators and Tractors! Oh Yay.

One of the planet's most passionate horror freekz (we call him The Arrow) caught wind of a newly-released plot synopsis for Alien vs. Predator 2, and here's what the logline looks like: "In this follow-up to the worldwide hit (AVP), the iconic monsters from two of the scariest film franchises ever, wage war in an American Midwestern town - with the residents caught in the middle." This synopsis came from the offical Fox website, which means Erik Davis' earlier reports have been confirmed. There will be cows.
So with the Alien and the Predator heading into Leatherface country, it only stands to reason that everyone's favorite skin-lovin' cannibal should get his very own outer space adventure. (Hold on while I go register that synopsis with the WGA.) Alien vs. Predator 2 will be directed by first-timer bro-team Colin & Greg Strause, and written by Shane Salerno, who wrote not only Shaft, but Armageddon too (along with a dozen other guys).

I liked the first movie as well, but I am having a hard time trying to deal with the premise for the sequel. the plot ("citizens of a midwestern town caught up in the battle"...) reminds me a lot of "Tremors"...when those citizens in a really small midwestern town had to do battle with those giant worms.
but then again, I liked that movie too. couldn't Fox have green-lighted a different storyline though or adapted one of the Dark Horse stories?

This movie was bad, did no justice to either Predator or Alien franchises. I mean the first Predator movie is in a different League than that movie in every way possible. This flick was way to complicated, get back to the basics. More 80s style perhaps? Oh well.

its true these movies continue to form their own plots, perhaps due to budget concerns, cuz these costumes cost fortunes, and often after the extensive effects work the writing gets the heel end of the attention. if they used a dark horse story, which were gripping and ruthless, without the cliches of modern action films and their hokey actors. i wanted the first one to be the woman who saves the predator and becomes a member of their clan and fights with them. they loosely implied this in the movie and within an entirely different context. the pyramid couldnt have been in the jungle? why the whole antarctica deal. very random. these films could really be much more terrifying, such as the first alien movies, with the gore of the predator film. but they take out a believable human element, of people being hunted in their own environment, which hopefully they exploit in this small town deal. i wanna see kids complaining of a monster under the bed and have dad come in to find one in an acid dripping alien who quickly uses his second set of jaws in one of those moments that make u jump. unpredictable and expansive is the way 2 go.

I hated it. They might as well have called it Alien vs. Predator vs. Human.
I think they should have had the "Predators" go to the "Aliens'" homeworld that we saw in the first Alien movie. Just like they come here to hunt, they go there to hunt. And maybe future movies going to other planets that have been used in Fox's various movies. maybe an animated one against the Dredg from Titan A.E. (which did you know Joss Whedon co-wrote that screenplay?) Or maybe Fox will give a crossover and we can see Wolverine take on both Aliens and Predators. Batman has done it in the comics, so why not?

I was really let down by AvP. Releasing it as PG-13 was the largest mistake to me. Both of those movies were for adults. A vast majority of the source films were alway rated R....I wish they would have just ripped the plots from the Dark horse comics.

AvP was ok for me, it had it's moments...I did read some of the dark horse comics and as far as I'm concerned, if the movie went the way of the comics, you'd have a smash...making independence day kinda numbers (not gonna say harry potter/star wars numbers cuz that may be stretching it a bit, it'll probably be "r" if they did used the comic) I think that the key to all these movies based off comic book characters is obviously how closely related to the comic they are.
Alot of these movies shouldn't start at the very beginning of how the team got together....just about everyone knows all these characters and how they came about, maybe something for the villians but the heros? c'mon who doesn't know superman, spiderman, the x-men, blah blah blah....just go for the gold, and use the most popular storylines from the respective comic books. My god, there's infinite possibilites, and to top it all off, if you went directly along with the comic, the amount of time it would take you to read the storyline start to end would probably be how long a movie is anyway (but anything that takes longer to read than say watching gladiator should be planned for a sequel). my 2 cents

You know what would make AvP 2 a good film? If the Aliens and the Predators went up against mankind's true everyman champion....Ash.
The Director's Cut DVD Special Edition (after the fourth release) could be entitled *Bruce Campbell vs. the Aliens & the Predators*.
Seriously, I need to be a Hollywood executive.
