Raiders of the Lost Ark Screening in NYC With Karen Allen Q&A
Filed under: Action, Paramount, Steven Spielberg
Want to know what Karen Allen is up to these days? Ask her yourself. Want to know what it was like working with Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford? Ask her yourself. Want to know if the rumors are true about her showing up in Indiana Jones 4? Ask her yourself. Seriously. Karen Allen is doing a Q&A at the Paris Theatre this weekend after screenings of Raiders of the Lost Ark, in which she co-stars as love-interest Marion Ravenwood. The screenings take place Friday night and Saturday night at 10pm and tickets are $10.50 (order them on Moviefone now, before they sell out).
Even if Raiders wasn't such a great film, and a huge blockbuster hit, Allen would still be an interesting actress to go and see. Other seminal films she's starred in include Animal House, Starman, Scrooged and The Sandlot (if you don't believe The Sandlot is a seminal film, you don't know enough people under the age of 25). She'll probably be limiting the discussion to Raiders, though, so make sure to think of questions about that film only. Don't worry, I'm sure you can prepare a bunch.

Not sure that I'd consider "Starman," "Scrooged" or "The Sandlot" seminal films, but, hey, different strokes for different folks.

Well they were seminal to me growing up. Maybe popular would be the better word? Or simply noteworthy.

You have to wonder why Karen Allen didn't make more movies. At least Karen Allen is more memorable than Allison Doody (she disappeared fast) but sorry Harrison Ford lost his appeal decades ago. Indiana Jones 4??? Will it be filmed at Shady Pines Nursing Home? I loved Raiders but it's had it's heyday. Spielberg must be bored. Starman is one of my favorites because of the chemistry between Karen Allen and Jeff Bridges...It's nice to know she's still around...I'll forgive her for Scrooged. Lumpy?

Hey, there's nothing wrong with Scrooged. Sure it's got Bobcat Golthwait in it, but it also has a very underrated performance by Bill Murray that is a direct predecessor to his role in Groundhog Day. Sure it is kinda corny, but so is Dickens' original story in the first place.

I'm with you on Scrooged, man. Hilarious, especially Murray's scenes with Carol Kane. And as far as movie heroines go, especially of the "Help me, hero!" type, I think Karen Allen's Marion is my all time favorite. Drink you under a bar, pull a knife on you, whack you with a frying pan, Marion can do it all, and with a monkey on her shoulder.

Karen Allen rocks! The absolute best of the Indiana Jones leading ladies. All you Scrooged haters out there can eat it, too. That movie must be watched at least once a year between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Bill Murray goes freakin' nuts, in the best possible way. David Johansen and Carol Kane as Ghosts of Christmas? "The Night the Reindeer Died"?!! COME ON!!!

Don't hate on the Dickens source material. He did have a hand in preventing the Gelf from overtaking the Earth, afterall. Show some gratitude.
