Vaughn Is 'Against All Enemies'
Filed under: Drama, Casting, RumorMonger, DIY/Filmmaking, Newsstand
There's nothing more fun to watch than another attempt by Hollywood to crucify the Bush administration. Look, I'm not a political guy. I don't have an agenda. As long as I can wake up each morning, inject a dose of caffeine into my brain and write about movies, I'm not complaining. However, if my President somehow screws that up, well, I will not be a happy camper.
When we first reported on Paul Haggis' decision to move forward with a big screen adaptation of Richard A. Clarke's Against All Enemies, the biggest question on our minds was not "Why is he doing this?" Instead, we wanted to know who the Oscar winning director would cast. Dennis Quaid as President Bush? Queen Latifah is pretty tough, perhaps we can throw her into the role of Condoleezza Rice? And then there were the parts of Richard Clarke and his partner in crime, former Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill. You'll remember, O'Neill backed up Clarke's "blame the Bush administration" story with his own testimony.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Haggis wants Vince Vaughn to play Paul O'Neill. Yes, Vince Vaughn. While the 'Old School' and 'Dodgeball' star has not yet signed on the dotted line, Haggis has had discussions with the actor, but needs to wait until Columbia Pictures finishes off the budget. Also, though nothing has been made official, Sean Penn is rumored to have snagged the Richard Clarke role. As always, we'll keep you updated.

Hollywood just hates Bush. That's all they know to do. They don't know the issues. They don't care about the freedom of people around the world. They don't care about the war against terrorism. They don't care about the nukes in North Korea or the nukes coming soon to an Iran near you. They just hate Bush. Hate is how the Nazi party got it's start. Please support our troops. They are risking their lives to keep us safe and free. There are many in Hollywood who hate Bush so much, they want us to lose the war in Iraq. Please don't be like them.

YOU KNOW?
PEOPLE USED TO GET HANGED FOR BASHING THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OR ANY OTHER HIGH POLITICAL FIGURE IN OTHER COUNTRIES, TOO. WHETHER YOU LIKE HIM OR NOT, HE IS STILL OUR PRESIDENT AND I'D BE AFRAID OF WHAT THESE BIG AND MIGHTY CELEBRITIES WOULD DO IN THE KIND OF SITUATIONS THAT PRES. BUSH HAS HAD TO CONTEND WITH!

I think it's pathetic that some people feel just because your a celebrity that it means your not allowed to make a statement against the president or his entire crime syndicate. Any intelligent, critical thinking person can come to the concussion that our "dear leader" is an idiot who is using 911 as a wild card for any shameless reason he chooses too. This is what being an American is all about..speaking your mind out loud and not "going with the flow" just because we are American. Celebrities pay taxes just like everyone else..10 times more than everyone else actually, and they are protected under the same laws that we are. I hope more celebs come out and share their utter angst for this evil administration. If anyone has beef with anything I've said..just remember Katrina, the rehearsed fake threat of WMD in Iraq, the Dubai ports deal, the fact that this president thinks the Earth is 2,000 years old and does not believe in science, and his vigor to make flag burning and gay marriage the main issue and avoid every other important issues that faces his nation NOW! Those who voted for this maniac should feel real proud!

hollywood should stay out of politics, and do what they do , movies and etc, and all these clowns, "rock stars, actors" should remember that they are nothing without our support, and some of us like the president and respect the institutions.

You may say that we should not bash our president, but isn't that the right of our constitution. Should we become a nation of dictatorship. I say no, and god forbid if that were to happen to us right here in the U.S.A. that we say we are proud to be free of speech.

The thing is, the soldiers are fighting to help defend our freedoms, and to keep us from harm in the long run. The celebrities waste our time spouting off against the president when they don't have other solutions. The dichotomy is, because Americans have fought for us to have these freedoms, the celebrities have the right to make any kind of movie they want. They enjoy the freedoms, but don't have the balls to do what it takes to ensure them. Instead they bitch about the leader of the Free World from their million dollar homes. How ironic.

What I find funny, and a bit entertaining, is the fact that this idea of a new movie will probably do a better job at maintaining a country than the Bush administration is doing right now. As for the two comments made against this movie and "pro-bush", it looks like you two are the ones who do not know the real issues. You're ranting about "the freedom of people around the world"...umm last time III checked the middle east was even more locked down and in worse shape than it was before...oh and hey...war on terrorism huh?...wheres osama?....but no no, you guys are right...go bush!!...f*cking idiots

Geeze Louise...the idea that these sub-morons in Hollywoood set themselves up as "experts" on everything from "Global Warming" to the war in Iraq to stem cell research would be laughable if it wasn't so pathetic.
Richard Clark is a traitorous weenie so of course his book will attract a bunch of self important semi-literates pontificating on the policies of our President in time of war. It's just nauseating.. So just round up the usual suspects, Penn, Clooney and that ilk, but don't expect anything new, enlightening or helpful to our courageous men and women in uniform.
Spoiled, elitist punks.

After all the Brad/Angie hype I have felt bad for Jen. I guess we never truly "know" people, and although everyone has a "right" to their opinion; I will personally feel differently about Vince if he takes the role. I currently don't watch anything of Sarandon's nor do I listen to the Chicks. Sure they do a lot of stuff about people in history 100 years ago. . .but his is not 100 years down the road yet. Bush is still our President and somethings are just not tasteful. I personally would not watch the movie, nor pay to see it in any form.

The celebrities are not all wrong and a movie would be interesting to say the least.Freedom to other countries? Maybe for the women which is nice.Bush is being used by the corporations/elite to get everyone on the grid as we lose our freedoms at home under the guise of terrorism.Study your history before jabbing at the mouth. This country was founded on the principles of questioning our government or we would still be a British colony. It seems like all the newer immigrants that came after the revolution when the country was made for them, and now their descendents have this obey attitude and only worry about outside threats."Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both." If some of these Bush supporters were half as interested in supporting our constitution and civil liberties, we wouldn't be having discussions such as these. Hollywood celebrities are citizens first, and every bit as entitled to speak as the rest of us. In point of fact, most of them are better qualified to speak than the idiots screaming on talk radio and fox news, not to mention the skank of skanks, Ann Coulter. What are her qualificiations? LOL

What I find very interesting is how many people in Hollywood live in a bubble. When they speak about the issues, it's obvious they have not done their homework, nor gotten informed in any manner. They are so busy hating the President, it interferes with them getting informed on what's really going on in the world.
There are people in this world who want to kill anyone with a view different from theirs. We are fighting for the Western Worlds survival. If people can't see that.... they should get their heads out of the sand and get informed.

And they wonder why Clooney isn't married? I would just LOOOVVEE to have an evening with the guy and "discuss" politics over dinner. I am married, but around his age, and I would just like to have him explain why he thinks and feels the way he does. When the celebrities that never have to worry about the light bill, or food in their kid's stomachs three times a day can sit down with a regular person and reach people like us. . .they are just shooting off their mouths. They work hard for their money, heck I would too if they made me a movie star! But they are not here in this United States like the rest of us.

it always amuses me how pissed the right gets with hollywood. they never wonder why right leaning celebrities suck so hard, (bo derek? charlton heston?). i'm not sure there's a connection, but it's very unattractive to piss and whine and moan that all your favorite stars hate the classless, clueless, intellectually challenged nitwit that currently runs our country. all the right do is bitch about what shows, movies and music hollywood makes instead of actually creating anything themselves. it's not our fault that brains, looks and talent go hand in hand with left leaning politics. the point is, we've got george clooney, robert redford, angelina jolie and brad pitt... you've got tim mcgraw and tony danza.

Why not call this movie "ONE RAT'S ASS?"
That is precisely how much we care about the narcissistic and petty world of Hollywood politiks.
You may think America cares about how you feel..we have heard your ranting loud and clear
The best thing about you is all we need to do is flip a switch to turn you off...think about that..
now..where's that remote???
