Newest Comic To Get Optioned for Movie: Tag
Filed under: Action, Horror, Deals, Fandom, Comic/Superhero/Geek
Okay, comic book/horror fans, I'm putting out the geek beat call for help here. I'm about to share some news on a comic book I'm entirely unfamiliar with, so if you read it and have some real opinions to throw at me, please do. I've got nothin' but the facts to offer on this one. ...Universal Pictures has picked up the rights to a horror-styled comic book named simply Tag, produced by the good people over at Boom! Studios. Marc Platt is on board to produce, but some Boom! guys will be heavily involved with the project as well. From what I understand, Tag is the story of an ancient, terrible curse which is passed from person to person by -- you guessed it -- tagging them! Once you've contracted the curse, your body starts to literally decompose before your eyes. You've only got a short time before it consumes you, so you've got to choose the next victim and pass it on or be ruined by the curse. Sounds like an interesting concept, anyway. I'd like to know if the book details the adventure of just one guy constantly struggling with the choice of condemning someone else to a terrible fate, or if it follows the curse itself from victim to victim. The movie will likely do the former, as it only has two hours to tell the story.

I'm assuming this is a different "Marc Platt" than the *Doctor Who* writer of the same name. My guess it that its the Marc Platt who produced *Empire Falls*.
