The Curse of Justin Timberlake

While I'm sure most of you are die hard Justin Timberlake fans and refuse to hear anything bad about the singer-turned-actor, so far all of the films he has starred in have one thing in common -- no theatrical release. After premiering at Sundance to lukewarm reviews, Alpha Dog was supposed to debut at some point this past spring, but with the controversy surrounding the film's plot and differing opinions regarding its release schedule, there's a good chance we won't see this puppy hit theaters until winter.
Ah, and then there's Richard Kelly's Southland Tales. In the pic, Timberlake plays an Iraq war veteran who narrates through the scope of his machine gun. After critics at Cannes went all Brown Bunny on this sucker, calling it a "sloppy mess" and a "major disappointment," Kelly was forced back into the editing room to try and find some way to salvage the film. Recently, Sony Pictures acquired all American theatrical and home video distribution rights with hopes to debut it sometime next year ... if that ever happens.
Okay, so that's Timberlake's second and third film -- what about his first? Perhaps you'll remember way back in September 2005 when Edison (later changed to Edison Force) closed the Toronto Film Festival. Pic, which featured a nice-looking cast of Kevin Spacey, Morgan Freeman, Dylan Mcdermott and, our hero, Justin Timberlake was, like Alpha Dog, supposed to hit theaters this past spring. However, we now have word that, due to extremely negative reviews, Edison Force is heading straight to DVD. This leads to an interesting question: Does a Justin Timberlake curse really exist? If so, what does this mean for the upcoming Black Snake Moan and Shrek the Third, both of which feature Timberlake? Will something go wrong? Probably. We'll keep an eye out and let you know as soon the curse strikes again.

Well he believes that once he left *NSYNC he could do anything; this kinda proves that's not going to be easy. And if his contribution to a movie makes it flop, they should just edit him out of Shrek 3 now because everyone loves the Shrek movies and more people would be upset if i didn't get a theatrical release. But a note; he's only in Shrek 3 because Cameron Diaz voiced in the first two and of course she'd get him in to do one. And funny part is, I am an *NSYNC fan and I do like Justin, but somethings you can't hide.

Well I think blaming the guy playing the small roles is a bit unfair....
He's starting off in small roles, so perhaps if he were to take on leading roles and those films flopped like other singers turned actors eg Britney Spears' 'Crossroads' or Mariah Carey's 'Glitter', he could be blamed.
But he didn't.
He's playing it smart and learning the tricks of the trade as it goes before he commits to anything big!!
I for one wish him success!!

He should be blamed. His career has taken a hard right ever since the "wardrobe malfunction". Besides, I'm tired of seeing musicians pretending to be anything other than muscians! Stick to what you know! He should have learned his lesson from watching Mariah Carey.

I thinks its a bit unfair that everyone is accusing him for the failures of the movies. The movies were not sent straight to DVD or not released soley because of his acting ability. It had to do with the directors, plots, and rest of the cast members. He plays small roles so calling it the Timberlake curse is a little unjust do you think? As for Shrek Three I don't think it will make a difference whether he is in it or not because the Sherk movies are just fabolously written!

ummm...is everyone forgetting the movie "Model Behavior"??? Sure, it was a made for TV movie, but it played on the Disney Channel all the time! And, it was made at the height of *nsync popularity. Justin basically played himself in the movie (albiet, with a different name), and his acting still sucked.
Also, Justin's face made a small cameo in Sherk 2, as some knight that Fiona has a picture of.
I may have been one of those twelve year old girls who wanted to marry Justin eight years ago. But even I can tell that his acting career is going nowhere.
