BREAKING: Haley Joel Osment in Serious Car Crash
Filed under: Celebrities and Controversy, Newsstand
Man, you know you're getting old when little Haley Joel Osment is driving -- did you know he was 18-years-old already? The actor, who is set to play a high school journalist covering a basketball team in the upcoming Home of the Giants, was driving his 1995 Saturn (Wait, why is Osment driving a 1995 Saturn?) in a suburb of Los Angeles at about 1am when he lost control of the car, hit a brick pillar and flipped over. LA Country Sheriff's Lt. Greg Sisneros said Osment was awake and talking following the crash, though he had no further information on the star's current status. Here's hoping the kid is okay.
In somewhat related news, actor Daniel Baldwin (brother of Alec) was in a high speed crash of his own after plowing into two parked cars in a rented silver Thunderbird going approximately 80 miles per hour. Baldwin, who has been battling a substance abuse problem for awhile now, is being held in police custody at the UCLA Medical Center. Sources say he could face drunk-driving charges.

First of all, I hope that he's not seriously injured.
The thing about driving a 1995 Saturn seems to show that both Haely and his parents may be more level-headed than any of those other child/teen/now adult stars and their parents have. When you think of grown up child stars with a lot less talent flouting their money and wrecking their cars, it's refreshing to see one of them having an old vehicle as his first car just in case he might wreck it (as he did).

Best wishes for a full recovery. I've always enjoyed your acting and hoping this is jump a momentary challenge for you.
My only concern with the 1995 Saturn is that they've come a long way with airbags in the past 11 years. But, as mentioend above, maybe his parents a "real" people.

Why is the CBS News online reporting this story with a story about him starring in the Sixth Sense last year and it being awesome in the box office? I think someone is asleep over there.
Good luck, What do saturns and model cars have in common, they are both made of plastic... :)

Erik,
I got an update from a friend of the Osment family who say he's in pain but in good spirits. Also, contrary to many reports, he was wearing his seat belt, but had unfastened it while trying to get out in the 40 min. it took rescuers to arrive.

I am a close and personal friend of Haley Joel and the Osment family. I visited him in the hospital last week, and he was doing fine. He thanks all of his fans for their concern and continuous support. After a few weeks of rest the doctors said he will be fine. He wants everyone to know he was completely sober because alcohol has never touched his lips.
love,
Miss Marie Blendar

I'm completely horrified as well. What the heck is this kid doing driving a 95 Saturn. I'm not saying he has to drive an 06 Testarosa, but how about something made this decade for chrissake. And if he's going to continue smoking bowls and driving, he may want to consider something a little more solid...like an SUV or a Hummer.
