Singer Definitely Plans For Superman to Return Again

Within the first day or so of launch, Superman Returns was being seeing as a disappointment, financially speaking. Sure, it was raking in good cash, but not nearly as much as everyone involved had hoped, with such a big-name superhero title. Consequently, some suits at the studio got cold feet (as they are wont to do when a financial disappointment is involved), and suddenly further Superman sequels -- which had seemed like a sure bet from the day director Bryan Singer came on board -- were in jeopardy. The word quickly came down that a take of $200 million domestic was needed for the studio to bring Singer back for a second round; a second round with much less money. Many fans may have been worried by this, but it seems as though Singer is entirely unfazed. At ComicCon, the director has already begun talking about his plans for the next film, although he admits no actual deal has been struck. Singer said he is aiming for a 2009 release, and is excited because he won't have to bother with long-winded character introductions, he can instead jump right into the action. Or, as Singer said: "get all Wrath of Khan on it." The only teaser info he gave was suggesting we could see an "alien villain" in the next film.

I hope Singer makes sure to give Kate Bosworth an I.V. of espresso, so we won't have to sit through another somnambulist Lois Lane performance from her.
And an alien villain can only be an improvement on this film's Lex Luthor.

A Superman sequel will only be a success if he follows what seems to be The Man Of Steel key alien villans 1) Braineact 2) Darkseid or the one everyone is hoping for 3)DOOMSDAY! It will be a big task to bring that storyline to the big screen being that Superman just returned. But im sure the die hard fans would'nt mind seeing him die & return again if it meant bringing that storyline to life!

Why didn't Singer do this in the first place?
"long-winded character introductions,"? Superman 1 already did that...he didn't have to redo it. So what the heck is Singer talking about?
Forget Singer's Superman sequels....come on Warner Brothers....Let's have the Smallville Movie instead!
Shaun is right about Supes enemies,We don't need to see another Lex Luthor vs Superman movie unless it's Michael Rosenbaum.

Singer dropped the ball in SR and was too preoccupied with remaking Donner's Superman to give us a worthy Superman movie. Granted, Supes is not one of my favorite characters (Batman & Wolverine are up there) but Singer ignored all the opportunities that came with a movie titled "Superman Returns".
Imagine a world where Superman is ignored Metropolis' cintizens and taken for granted much in the same way the general public in the real world has. He's not appreciated, but it's a given that when disaster strikes, he'll be there, no biggie. It doesn't help matters that Lois is more interested in the "Super" part rather than the "man" part. So what would he do once he gets word there are portions of Krypton still existing in outer space? Hell I'd be the first to go and check for Kryptonian life-forms.. screw those earth people. And if I do find there's nothing left? I'd be devestated, return to earth and refuse the first call to action (mythologically speaking).
And the whole symblism with Christ's crucifiction, death, and rebirth? I'd have saved that for a sequel.. Death of Superman.
Yeah... I would've made a better Superman film and I'm not even his biggest fan.

Superman Returns was not that bad. I kind of enjoyed the movie. The main problem is with Man of Steel's sad love story. I want to see some change. I do not want him take a fly in his memory lane. It sucks.

Hey, as long as Singer doesn't get Heath Ledger to play the villain in the next film, it can't ever be referred to as the worst comic book movie of all time. That, apparently, is reserved for the next Batman film.
Man I hope that rumor isn't true...

If Bryan Singer really wants to go all Wrath of Khan, there's only one alien villain that fits the bill:

I hope Singer hires a writer for the next one. The whole scenario with Lois and her new beau really turned tawdry, making Clark the Superstalker. It really tarnishes the Superman legend to have him behave so poorly while showing how brave and selfless the non-powered boyfriend is. Meanwhile, Lois remains the superbitch. If she has such disregard for Clark, then she really doesn't give a damn for his alter ego either.
No one gets that Clark is the persona where Supes gets to have fun with people. They get the poignancy of his not being able to strut his stuff, but they never get the irony of his being able to express those qualities the Man of Steel isn't supposed to have (well, not since George Reeves played him). I would like to see more exploration of that dynamic and a more human Lois if there is a next time.
