Sony Reveals Venom!

Though cool footage and pictures are unlikely to quell fanboy rumblings that Topher Grace is too small to play Eddie Brock/Venom, Sony last night gave ComicCon attendees their first look at Grace as the character. According to a report at JoBlo, footage from Spider-Man 3 was screened and, though "a bit rough in spots" (I'm assuming that means it's unfinished, as opposed to bad), it showed all sorts of cool stuff, from a fight between Spidey and Sandman to MJ caught in Venom's webs. Oh, and it also included the minor event of Brock's transformation in Venom, a scene that, not surprisingly, "[brought] the house down." (That said, what clips at ComicCon don't bring the house down?! People go there primed to love everything -- that's why studios reveal stuff there, for God's sake.)To coincide with the big reveal, Sony added some Venom wallpaper to their official site for the film. Maybe going and staring at it will make your forget that the movie doesn't come out until next May.

Paul, as far as I know the only people with the clip work for Sony. If you know otherwise, please let us know!

def. a cool effect. is that topher? why is he wearing a costume with spidey-like pattern on it? will it look like he is wearing a rubber suit or more CG-esque... perhaps the suit with subtle CG additions will be the best fit.But this movie is the one the fans have waited for. and so the speculation and skepticism will most certainly be increased, but in the age of computers i find it hard to go wrong with a Special Effects posterchild like Venom. Still i have to question Topher Grace as the choice for Brock. He seems more Spider-man sized to me. And Brock was also, blonde but whatever i mean i guess they really want those tweens to come, as if they weren't already. My choice? Heath Ledger, who is naturally blonde, and somewhat large. It doesn't look like they tried to dye Grace's hair, which would have just been rediculous. BTW how many more dead black singers will Jamie Fox, o sorry Foxx, two x's cuz u can, uh, pronounce the extra x i guess, try to portray? why couldnt any one of Bob Marley's dozen or so kids play their Dad? Not Ziggy? hes the spittin image and its not like hes camera shy. maybe he found the idea somewhat offensive.

I've gone to the con for about a decade and I'm not primed to like things. Last year I saw the first 20 minutes of ABC's invasion at the comic-con and I couldn't stop laughing at the bad writing, acting and directing.
Not all attendees are fanboys.
