More Ghost Rider Video
Filed under: Action, Fandom, Movie Marketing, Comic/Superhero/Geek
Okay folks, the third installment of the Ghost Rider video production blog is up over on the official Sony website, and as your friend, I'm suggesting you check it out so we can have an open, honest discussion about this ... because I have a confession to make. No more sneaking around here, I've got nothing but honesty for you toda,y after watching writer/director Mark Steven Johnson explain a bit about the Johnny-Blaze-to-Ghost-Rider transformation. Watched the clip? Okay, good.
Yes, some of the transformation looks very CGI heavy. Yes, the short bit with Ghost Rider cruising down the side of a building is obviously CGI -- good CGI, mind you, but clearly CGI. That all said: Holy cow, am I excited for this picture. I know we're all supposed to be worried about it, talking about how Sony pushed it to February from a summer launch, and how Nicolas Cage is the star, etc. etc. But man, I just want to see a flaming skull flying around the streets on a fast motorcycle, breaking things and hurting people. Am I worried that it'll perform poorly? Sure I am. But I'm beginning to believe that I personally will really enjoy this one.

I am excited about the movie, but I think it would have been better if they had let David Goyer do his version instead of turning away his action packed, violent, R rated version. The studio wanted to make a violent character into a movie kids could watch. Bunch of idiots.

I was excited when I first heard about this film. The I saw screen shots and the trailer. Now I know that this film will not only suck but it will also tank at the box office.

Gotta say I'm siding with the skeptics on this one.
Cage is a fun actor, but ... this seems like a bad fit.
And I thought Daredevil/Elektra pretty much stank on ice, so I'm a bit leery of MSJ's comic book stylings.
But hey, it's a superhero movie, so of course I hope it's a good time.

I'm so tired of Hollywood watering down these comic book characters. Anyone who knows anything about Ghost Rider knows that he is not a kid-friendly character. Maybe heroes like Spider-Man and The Fantastic Four can be done so that they're family-oriented, but some Marvel characters are NOT meant to be family-oriented and Ghost Rider is one of them.

I agree it seems like ever studio wants to copy Spiderman and as Dardevil shows thats a not the best idea. I think one of the reasons the Punisher ended up doing so well was because it was a darker movie (although not as dark as I liked). Personally with all the material you would have to pick from it really should be darn near impossible to make one good movie about any marvel character. But common sense is the only thing that Hollywood never has enough of
