Die Hard 4 Gets Release Date and New Crappy Title
Filed under: Action, 20th Century Fox, DIY/Filmmaking, Newsstand, Remakes and Sequels
Okay, the first time I read this story I thought it was a joke. They can't be serious. They can't be this cheesy. After referring to it as Die Hard 4, then Die Hard 4: Die Hardest, then Die Hard 4.0, then Die Hard: Reset (My favorite so far, btw), the (final?) title of the fourth Die Hard installment will be -- I can't believe I'm writing this -- Live Free or Die Hard. No, that's not the name of your favorite 80's hair-band song ... although it would make for a great Bon Jovi tune. Soundtrack? Jovi? (I know you Jersey folks just leaned in a bit closer.)
Aside from the announcement of that new ridiculous title, 20th Century Fox also nailed down a release date for the flick. Live Free or Die Hard will hit theaters next summer on June 29, joining Michael Bay's Transformers and Pixar's Ratatouille as the only other pics scheduled to bow around that time. Fox felt the timing was necessary, as the film's storyline takes place on or around July 4. While Bruce Willis is officially reprising his role as John McClane, there's been no word yet on any truth to the rumor Justin Long will be joining him. Mark your calendars and start collecting those fireworks folks, because next fourth of July is lining up to be one heck of a blast from the past.

Might I suggest *Die Smug* as the title if Justin Long is cast in the flick?
I sure hope Eric Roberts is cast as the next terrorist Grueber brother that McClane has to deal with. Hmmm... Helmut Grueber? Dieter Gruber? Franz Gruber? Fritz Gruber? Adolf Grueber? Roland Emmerich Grueber?
Wait...I got it! Dr. Uwe B. Grueber!

This site would be a lot funnier if the jokes were proofread.

I'm sorry, but I just have to say it: I LOVE the title! Is it ridiculous? Most certainly. But is there any chance this is going to be good anyways? When was the last time the 4th movie of an action franchise was? Throw in the director of Underworld, and I think the title will end up being the best part.

I love that title. You need some over the top cheese every now and again. And again. And again. And again.

Matt's post reads:
"2. 'I know you Jersey folks just leaned it a bit closer.'

I say:
The article actually reads, " ... leaned IN a bit closer." (emphasis added)
Jokes would be a lot funnier if posts were proofread.
Sorry. I couldn't help myself.

I say its about time. We have heard so many rumours, the worst being Brittany spears playing John McLean's daughter. Well Honestly I don't care what they call it. Die Hard was a head of its time when released in 1988. Many action movies even in today's age have not yet matched up against a movie that was filmed 18 years ago. The story line for Die Hard 4 (sorry Live Free or Die Hard) will match its last three story lines.
Its always a big ask as to keep making sequels to movies. Its like the studios have run out of ideas so they just chose the easy option and make a sequel. By the time we saw lethal weapon 4 we thought are you serious. But we had our laughs and some great actions scenes and overall it was good. But I believe that Willis will have a lot of say in this movie and it will not surprise me if he ends up as one of the executive producers on this movie. This will either make the trilogy that we have seen so far a laughing stock or finish it off on a great note.
What ever happens I will be there on opening day front row.

A ridiculous title? Maybe, but not any more ridiculous than "Die Hard With A Vengeance." I mean, you can't say that's not a ridiculous title.

Die hard with a Vengance was suited to the movie. Hans grueber's brother was out for vengance so its not all that ridiculious.
