Galaxy Quest 2?

I continue to expect absolutely nothing from Tim Allen's upcoming Zoom, because -- let's be honest -- dude hasn't made a good movie in quite a while now. It's at the point where I basically write off anything the man appears in. In my mind, he is a member of this wacky, family comedy power-trio of suck, alongside George Lopez and Bernie Mac. I've often thought if we could get all three of them together in one film, it would probably represent so many different signs of the apocalypse that it'd force God's hand and bring about the return of His Son.However, in promoting Zoom, Allen invoked a film which gave me brief pause. According to Allen, Zoom will contain a lot of the same humor we saw in Galaxy Quest. Yes, good readers, even Tim Allen remembers the last time he was funny, and is hoping to recapture some of that magic in his new film. Do I expect it to work? Not really, but I sure hope it does. The more interesting news to come from this bit of Allen PR is the suggestion of a Quest sequel. According to Allen, such a sequel has been proposed, and presented to Dreamworks for their approval. Nothing is known beyond that, however. Allen said "it's all studio stuff," and he tries to stay far away from studio stuff. Dare we hope?

Tim Allen was okay in Galaxy Quest, but Alan Rickman and Tony Shalhoub made that movie.

Agree with EO - Tim Allen wasn't the movie, the co-stars also including Signorey Weaver made that movie, Allen hasn't had a hit since GQ1 - so I hope the rumor is true and they make a sequel - call it Galaxy Quest - The Next Generation.

I loved the original *Galaxy Quest* despite the fact that I liked the whole "Omega-13" plot device to bring back the dead crew by reversing time inside the ship better when it was known as the "Eye of Harmony" in the 1996 *Doctor Who* television movie.

GQ was a great movie -- but it had very little to do with Allen. It was Alan Rickman, Tony Shahlaub and Sigorney Weaver that made that movie what it was. (And to me, it was mostly Rickman). The sequel will only work if they get the same full cast back (just like a Trek movie).

I absolutely agree with the above; when I think of GQ, Tim Allen hardly even crosses my mind - it was Alan Rickman (first, foremost, & always on my mind) along with Tony & Sigourney who made the experience. Tim Allen was more like a backdrop.

I'd love to see a Galaxy Quest II with the original crew, especially Alan Rickman. He, as Dr. Lazarus / Alexander Dane made the movie a "must see/must have" for me.

I think any device qas powerful as the Omega 13 could have really had side effects, and a kornball journey across space in a search for a cure would open up some plot possibilities- funny diseases specific to each character, weird deep space doctors and wizard-types, rearranged body parts, new telepathies malfunctioning, etc, alot of Red Dwarf-ian adventures... Sarris' brother comes to earth seeking revenge but is totally lost by our ways- come on guys, give em more ideas
