Incredible Hulk in 2008

In case you haven't heard, allow me to quickly sum of the recent history of Marvel's The Incredible Hulk as it pertains to the world of film.- Ang Lee made Hulk just a few years ago. Unfortunately, he made it an Ang Lee movie instead of a Marvel movie, and most fans weren't too impressed. We didn't want a study in anger management, we wanted Hulk Smash! Marvel was embarrassed, and everybody moved on. The studio retained sequel rights, because that's how these deals work.
- Marvel wants to revive the Hulk on film, because he is one of their most successful comic book franchises. However, sequel rights lie with aforementioned studio, which would insist on bringing back Eric Bana, and nobody really wants to go there again.
- Marvel lands itself a lot of cash in the form of a big old loan they call "the war chest." Opportunities now abound, and Marvel needs even more to depend on their big moneymaker -- but they have very few moneymakers left which aren't already signed with one studio or another. Hulk is signed, but not successful. Marvel pulls the plug on the current franchise, claiming no sequels for the Lee version of Hulk. Instead, they are starting over, and they're going to make it right.
- Louis Leterrier is signed on to direct, and Zak Penn is signed on to write.

I think they feel they can make more money with a sequel, and that's not a odd theory considering that each X-Men film made more money than the previous one. Same with the second Pirates movie, and the Austin Powers movies.
I think, in today's world, many people won't go see a movie in the theater unless it's a known proposition. These people become fans of a movie once it's on DVD and then are draw to see the sequels in the theater because they can't wait for the DVD release.
I'm sure that marvel could do quite well with a Hulk 2... treat the Ang Lee one as a origin story, and just chock it full of action.

There was nothing wrong with Ang Lee's Hulk.
It was an awesome film and a great Hulk story. 245 million world wide is still a decent money maker.

I think Eric Bana did a great job portraying Bruce Banner. I hope he is in the next Hulk movie and I hope they add She-Hulk his gamma infused cousin. I sincerely hope Marvel and Stan Lee make this version. They could also add The Leader in this one or another super villan.

Hulk is my #1 most favoritest superhero, so I'm thrilled they're trying again.
Then again, I thought Ang Lee's Hulk was a rather fine piece of filmmaking. No, not perfect, and certainly not the crazy mayhem action-fest that it could have been, but still a good flick.
Plus it's got Jennifer Connelly in it.

A bodybuilder became Conan, so how about a female
bodybuilder becoming the She-Hulk?

It seems like every time someone attempt a comic-book movie that's not a generic 'popcorn flick', everyone gets all up in arms about it, with the exception of Batman Begins. Personally, I count Ang Lee's Hulk as among my all-time favorites, and am highly disappointed that Marvel wants to see it swept aside in favor of a rewrite that will render Eric Bana's terrific Bruce Banner to the dustbin and make the Hulk exactly like every single other superhero movie made over the past decade (especially if Zak Penn's involved).

As soon as I heard that Ang Lee was directing the Hulk movie I knew right away it was going to be garbage and I was right. I was also infuriated that he ruined a great character. Didn't he also direct that ridiculus, unwatchable farce Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon? he sucks out loud and is way over-rated.

It just go to show the movies, like music, needs to be dumbed down in order for the masses to enjoy it. I wanted a little more Hulk smash myself, but I was intriqued by the breakdown of what happened. Let's be real people. Bruce Banner was a SCIENTIST. So guess what you have to explain SCIENCE. So there wouldn't be any quirky Spiderman humor. My only issue was the CGI. I guess they should of got a real person. Like a wrestler or something.

I agree--no CGI Hulk! They should use a bodybuilder like what they did with Lou Ferrigno, and then exaggerate his size, like what they did with Robbie Coultraine when he played Hagrid in the Harry potter films. That way, it will look more realistic.

I honestly don't see what Marvel is thinking investing in another Hulk film, I mean ya it was alright. However it was too long the first hour was boring. I am not excited about it, hes not even that great of a super hero. He is just big and green that is it. I think it is a waste of time

I was a fan of Ang Lee's Hulk. Wasn't keen on the ending, which made no sense to me, but other than that it was fab.
