Haley Joel Heads to Jail?
Filed under: Celebrities and Controversy, Newsstand
Wow, what a strange turn of events for young Haley Joel Osment. See kids, this is what happens when you make stupid decisions. Not long ago, the Sixth Sense star was driving through a suburb of Los Angeles at 1am when he accidentally ran his 1995 Saturn straight into a brick pillar and flipped over. The actor was later taken to a hosipital where, surprisingly, his injuries were fairly minor.
However, what we did not know at the time was that Osment's blood alcohol level after the crash measured in at .16, twice the legal limit and higher than Mel Gibson's (.12) at the time of his arrest. Not only that, but police also found marijuana in the car. Damn Haley, you were out having a good ol' time, huh? Needless to say, Osment must now surrender to police, as he will be facing charges that could land him in jail for up to six months. Yeah, now here's where I want to smack the crap out of the kids who let the boy get in that car when he was obviously tanked. Man, I wish they could be penalized in some way. Hopefully Haley learned his lesson.

The only question I have is: why the heck was H-JO driving an 11-year-old Saturn?!

Yes, he could have killed somebody but, just like in attempted murder, if no one's killed the penalty is less. I think he'll get off with community service a big fat fine and rehab. He really seems to need more counseling than punishment.

It could have been worse. He could have been saying, "Oh, shit. I AM dead people!"

That's surprising that a dude like Haley Joel ended up drunk with Marijuana in his car. Man those were the good 'ol days when he was a kid and said no to Alchohol and dugs.

I think a few days in a jail somewhere might teach a kid something! So sad...evidently, money doesnt buy you love! So cute...but evidently not so bright after all? Hopefully, he learns something...and grows up!! Too young to be Mel JR!

Yes, why was he driving not only an old vehicle, but just about the cheapest vehicle you can find? Saturns crumple really easily. Maybe they KNEW he would end up doing it.

So what if Haley was under the influence? Who at age 19 wasn't? I say good for him for not have fallen victim to hard drugs. Good for him for acting like a typical 19-year old guy at age 19. Perhaps this is one of the most normal incidents he will ever expirience. Haley, you've got my support no matter what. Just make sure that you are able to age/mature and tell yourself, "When I was young and stupid, I was young and stupid..."

I blew a .18 and had weed on me. He'll get a fine and porbation. I had a DUI, 4 MIP, malicious mischeif, and a gun charge. I never saw jail and couldn't even afford an attorney. He'll have a damn nice attorney, and no way he'll see a day of jail.

Our drunk driving laws are way too lenient. They do not serve as a deterrant at all. It should be lose your license for 6 months or a year.
The part I DO like is that we send people to rehab. That's about healing, and that's a good thing.
