Let me ask you three quick questions.
- Are you female?
- Are you reasonably attractive?
- Are you under the age of 35?
If you answered yes to all three questions, congratulations! You are fully eligible to join the
Wonder Woman casting rumor mill. In fact, your name is probably already on the list. Since the day
Joss Whedon signed on to write and direct the film, names have been flying around. At this point, it is my studied estimate that roughly 1.7 million women been considered "front runners" for the part. I know this, because it is my job to write about it. Today's Flavor of the Week? None other than
American Idol runner-up Katharine McPhee. Apparently she was the runner up this year? I don't watch the show, so I can't praise her talent or cynically attack the lack thereof, I'm just bringing you the news. For whatever reason, McPhee has reportedly captured the ever-roaming eye of Joss Whedon himself. An
American Idol gig can really take you places, can't it? So tell me,
Idol worshippers of the world -- McPhee as Wonder Woman?

skinny waif? i don't know. Girl actually has hips and flesh. or maybe i'm so used to the skeletons that any amount of lbs above a 0 makes me think full figured.
I think she'd be a good choice physically if they're going young and going Lynda Carter-esque (very pretty but not sizzling sexual type looks) but can she act?
that's always the question with stunt casting. don't know why Wonder Woman (or any superhero for that matter) needs a "name" to star in it though. They're already pre-sold.

Being under the age of 35 should not be a requirement. Monica Bellucci is about 7 years above that artificial age limit and she'd still be hotter than any of the potentials that have been named so far.
I also refute Nathaniel's assertion that Lynda Carter was not "sizzlin" back in the day. Aside from Bellucci, there's few in Hollywood today that would fill Carter's old costume without adding artificial preservatives into the mix.
As for Joss, I have no faith in the man casting perfectly. In fact, unless he stuntcasts Charisma Carpenter into the role, I'd probably have more trust in Bryan Singer being able to select a hot enough actress for the role. Meaning I have 0% faith in either of them. However, at least Singer has an excuse for failing such an assigned task...

She certainly has the figure. From what I've read she is well prepared for the acting chores, having done professional roles in the L.A. area. And her Idol turns displayed a strong ability to pass her emotions along.
So I don't know why not. I think she'll be a 'moom pitcher' star sooner or later. Why not now?

Personally I have never seen Mcphee sing, but there is compelling evidence against casting her. Most of the time singers make for, at best, mediocre actresses. Also she seems way too soft. I think for this role they need a beautiful woman yes, but one that strikes fear into villians as well. The image I most like of Wonder Woman was featured on a cover for the Identity Crisis comic book series. She has her rope molded into a noose. It is bad ass. Now I ask you, who can pull that off? Well whoever it is, I do not think it is this McPhee woman.
Brooke Burke definetely has an Amazon look, but I am not sure her acting is up to par. I think Evangeline Lilly from LOST could have potential as Wonder Woman. What do you guys think?

NOT JUST NO, NOT JUST HELL NO, BUT F@(& ,NO. I WILL NOT HAVE THAT LITTLE "IDOL" TART. THE ONLY ACTRESS CAPABLE OF PLAYING WONDER WOMAN IS CATHERINE BELL FROM "JAG".

Mcphee would hurt the movie. She is a singer, first and for most. She has the stature, and look, but her Idol back ground would turn alot of people away. Nadia Bjorlin is my choice. She is the total package. And she can act. If Silver or Whedon are reading this, she is your Wonder Woman. Why we have not heard more of her is beyond me.Maybe that is a good thing.

I say if they are not going with Charisma Carpenter, then go with Katharine McPhee. BOTH of these woman have the look! All they need are the blue eye contacts.
It's funny how rumors spin. I first heard that Charisma Carpenter was going to portray Wonder Woman/Diana Prince in the movie and that Katharine McPhee would portray Wonder Woman/Diana Prince in a few guest appearances on Smallville. I have to say, I like that rumor A LOT! Besides, after destroying the Cordelia character like he did, he owes it to Charisma Carpenter to cast her as Wonder Woman. But, this is Joss we are talking about. I have no faith in him. He's not even having any well known villains in the movie. No Cheetah! No Giganta! Ugh, I knew he would botch this up. If he has amazon women frolicking around on the beach in this movie, fans will dismiss this film and compare it to Elektra and Catwoman.

I think that Katherine McPhee would do I good job if she was choosen as Wonder Woman, I mean first of all she has the look down. Beyond that I think she may very well have the acting talent as well. I watched A.I. alot and as I watched I there was something about the way she acted on the show that said to me, this girl is an actor and an experinced actor. I checked her profile and found out she actually has a lot of theater experince and wants to act as much as she wants to sing. I guess intution about someone isn't a reason that you can use to convince someone that they will be good at something but my guess is we will see Katherine acting more than we will see her singing, it might take a couple years but my guess is we will see her in alot of movies. It may start with Wonder Woman but either way we will see her alot in the coming years.
