Quickhits: Four Join Nightwatching, Bloom Turns Down Knight Rider Flick and Pirates 3 Lands an Official Title
Filed under: Action, Drama, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Casting, RumorMonger, Fandom, DIY/Filmmaking, Newsstand, Remakes and Sequels
Odds and ends from Thursday:
- Apparently, David Hasselhoff is looking to bring on an A-list star to play his son in a planned Knight Rider film. After crossing paths with Orlando Bloom in Hollywood recently, Hasselhoff extended an offer to the actor for him to appear in the flick as Knight Rider, Jr. Bloom gave him the old, "You'd need to speak to my manager about it" routine, which, in actor-speak, means "Um, no."
- For those of you interested in exploring the life of Rembrandt, you'll be happy to know a biopic is currently in the works. In fact, four more actors have just signed on to the project, which already has Martin Freeman (The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) starring as Rembrandt himself. Hopping onboard the flick are Eva Birthistle, Nathalie Press, Emily Holmes and Jodhi May. Birthistle will play Rembrandt's wife May, while Holmes and May will play his mistresses. Pic, entitled Nightwatching, is said to "shed new light on the painter's life through a fresh reading of his 1642 painting Night Watch."
- Screenwriter Terry Rossio stopped by the Word Player forums to officially confirm to fans that the title of the third and (final?) Pirates flick will be Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End. Supposedly, the studio had been tossing around At Worlds End and Worlds End, finally deciding to go with the former. Pic is scheduled to hit theaters on May 25, 2007.

Thank god Bloom didn't take Knight Rider because that would reduce him to a B-List star.

what are you talking about?
orlando bloom is a b-list star.
remember elizabethtown, kingdom of heaven, troy to name a few?
if not for pirates and lord of the rings, which i may add would still be blockbusters without his characters, he'd still be doin c-movies with kirsten dunst, julia stiles, sara michelle gellar, tara reid, paris hilton, to name a few c-list actresses.

Kingdom of heaven was a great movie and Orlando Bloom was very smart for not taking the role in Knight Rider. He is a A list actor and his acting in Haven was excellent. He deserves better role parts. Haven was a differn't movie, but his acting performance was excellent.

Orlando Bloom is an excellent actor, he will have enough work to keep him busy for a long time. But I agree that Pirates will do just fine without him. I mean lets face it, Depp is the main attraction. He is in any film that he does. He is the best actor of all time in my opinion. His rolls are so varied, yet he masters them all!!!

Orlando Bloom is nothing special at all. He is a modern day Steve Guttenberg or Joe Piscapo. In about 15 years, him and Ashton Kutchner willing be on Dancing with the Stars XXX. He is in movies that have to market extremely hard to get people to go see it, because just the name Orlando Bloom doesn't sell any movies like how a Johnny Depp does. Orlando, we won't miss ya!

I do agree that Orlando Bloom is a bad actor, but he is now a major part of the movie and its too late to kill him off without angry reactions from some fans. I do, however, agree that Keira Knightley and Johnny Depp are more important and are better at acting.

I'd much rather see Paul Walker in the role as Michael Knight's son...he's a much better actor than Orlando Bloom and is actually from the United States. We shouldn't have foreigners play roles made famous by American icons.

Oralando Bloom sure is pretty, but let's face it, his acting skills are lacking.
(I still like to watch him though!!!)

I think that taking Orlando Bloom out of the film would be a terrible thing to do. He is already important and fans would be pretty angry to have him taken out. I think Orlando is an awesome actor, and is one of my personal favorites.
