Is Rachel Bilson Wonder Woman?
Filed under: Action, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Casting, Warner Brothers, RumorMonger, Fandom, DIY/Filmmaking, Joss Whedon, Comic/Superhero/Geek
Though we're not sure where or how they received this news, the UK site Life Style Extra is reporting that Rachel Bilson has nabbed the coveted role of Wonder Woman in Joss Whedon's upcoming superhero flick. As of this minute, Warner Bros. has refused to comment on the rumor, so take this news with a huge grain of shady salt, folks.
However, if true, Bilson, who is best known for her role as Summer Roberts on The O.C. (where, coincidentally, she once dressed up as Wonder Woman for a sexy seduction scene on the television show), has beat out a number of actresses including Catherine Zeta-Jones, Cameron Diaz, Kate Beckinsale, Charisma Carpenter and, yes, even her OC co-star Mischa Barton. Personally, I've never seen the girl in action, and so I can't form an opinion based solely on her acting ability. Yet, she sure does look awfully hot the part, and if Whedon happened upon the above-mentioned seduction scene, then perhaps that's what convinced him. So, what do you think?

I always take things with an extra grain of salt when every media report quotes a single source (whatever the heck Life Style Extra is) and that source only references "reports." That's a lot of people quoting absolutely nothing.
I think that Bilson is as adorable as heck, but since she's a munchkin and Wonder Woman is an Amazon... Well, that's seems like casting Peter Dinklage in "The Larry Bird Story."
But what do I know?

Yet another Wonder Woman rumor?!? Check out Whedonesque.com and you will see there is a link to an interview with Bilson where she states that she's heard nothing about this rumor.

Rachel Bilson? I may be a big fan of hers, but seeing someone that looks as sweet as her in the role as a drag-out superhero seems like a big stretch.
Man, are we ever gonna see this movie? Just the rumors about who's playing Diana Prince alone have taken almost three years now.

Can't they cast someone who looks Mediterranean?
Paging Ms. Bellucci...err...Mrs. Cassell.

Catherine Zeta-Jones would be good.
Or Monica Belluci.
I don't really know Bilson from anything, but she sure is cute!

Wha???? Really, do any of those even seem remotely Wonder Woman-esque? I think Kate Beckinsale might be the only one on the list that could pull it off, but she still doesn't have the right look totally.

Okay, I know this is a stretch, because it would mean a significant shift... but...
Gina Torres : http://imdb.com/name/nm0868659/
She's got the height, the strength, the power, the long black curls, the presence, the personality... She's tough as nails. She's married to Lawrence Fishburne, and could shout down a villain with the badass power of Samuel L. Jackson. Her formidable talents are being wasted on that new television series (which just makes the pain of Firefly's cancellation that much worse).
And she would look dynamite in the costume.
I hereby nominate Gina Torres.

Oh... one more thing. She's worked with Joss Whedon on "Firefly" and "Serenity," and he writes dialogue for her very, very well.

Nope, I can't see all 5'3" of Rachel Bilson, even in high heel boots, being tall enough to qualify as being the statuesque, amazon lady that is Wonder Woman... Maybe in her teen years...?

Agree with #10 about Gina Torres. Although surprised Morena Baccarin (Inara) was never mentioned. She, at least, might look the part.

Gee, what factor makes Gina Torres any less suitable for Wonder Woman than Cameron Diaz? Hmmm, let me think...

re: Rachel Bilson being 5'3"
According to the IMDb, Lynda Carter is 5'9". Catherine Zeta Jones is 5'7 1/2". Of course, like the weight of wrestlers, these numbers may be more related to their PR than their actual height.
I think the camera can easily make Rachel appear taller than she really is. Hollywood has been doing that for short actors for ages now.
I'm not a big fan of Bilson, however. I still think there's got to be a better choice out there. And no, it's not Gina Torres... haha. wtf?!

Why don't you just come out an say it? Or is it too honest to admit you can't handle a black woman playing a cartoon character and that race is really the issue? 21st century and we're still dealing with this stupidity. Damn.

What side of the rainbow did this rumor come from? Nadia Bjorlin is your Wonder Woman. Catherine Zeta Jones said she doesn't want it. Cameron Diaz said no.Bellucci is too old.Morena Baccarin or Nadia will be the one. If it's a dark horse, it will be someone that we have never herd of.But first they have too approve his script.
