Cavallari Following in Lohan's Footsteps?
Kristin Cavallari, star of the vacuous yet incredibly popular reality show/drama Laguna Beach, is taking a page from Lindsay Lohan's playbook. Lohan had a hit on her hands with Mean Girls, in which she starred with several Saturday Night Live veterans, inluding screenwriter Tina Fey. Cavallari tells MTV News that she will be appearing in Spring Breakdown, with SNL stars Rachel Dratch and Amy Poehler (one of the best Weekend Update hosts in the show's history, and -- surprise -- she was in Mean Girls). Dratch co-wrote the screenplay for the film which will also star Parker Posey and Amber Tamblyn.According to Cavallari, "It's a comedy about girlfriends that missed out on spring break because they were losers in high school, and now they're older and they go on a college spring break." Cavallari will play one of the "bitchy, mean girls," bringing to light yet another similarity to Lohan's film.
Again, the word vacuous comes to mind, but I hold out some hope because of Dratch and Poehler's involvement. Cavallari may get the young folks into the theater, but these two SNL vets provide the most hope for the film actually being entertaining. Posey has respectable comedy chops as well (check out a little-seen film called Clockwatchers if you don't believe me).
Spring Breakdown will open sometime next year.

Of COURSE Parker Posey is funny! Ever seen "Waiting for Guffman," "Best In Show," or "A Mighty Wind?" Hell, she was hilarious in "Josie and the Pussycats!"

I'm going to second Patrick on the utter absurdity of feeling the need to defend Parker Posey's comedy credentials in general and doing it in specific with "Clockwatchers" of all things. I would say that if Posey is defined as anything, it's as an archly comic actress going back to "Party Girl" and "House of Yes" among other things...

I'll jump on the "All Hail Queen Parker" bandwagon and add that while Scream 3 and Blade Trinity were not stellar films, Parker still delivered a couple of laughable lines that made the movies worth while. She even stole a couple scenes in the hilarious The Sweetest Thing.
Hell, I went to see The OH in Ohio just because she was in it. So yeah, I'll be watching Spring Breakdown.

Parker Posey was really funny in BEST IN SHOW (so so movie overall.)
I was hoping she'd get to vamp it up in SUPERMAN RETURNS, but sadly she was not given the opportunity.
She was also in an episode of Will and Grace, I seem to recall she was pretty good there too.

Parker Posey was also great as Tom Hanks'girlfriend in "You've Got Mail"-everyone had these profound goals if they made it out of an elevator alive and Parker's character said, "If I ever get out of this elevator, I'm going to get my eyes lazered." Hilarious!

I love those who love Parker Posey and wonder how everyone couldn't. I am with Dan on giving props to House of Yes - - in which Posey nailed that role like nobody else ever could. And, Best in Show . . that's a given. And, she was in more than one episode of Will & Grace - (Jack's boss at Barney's). I can't think of a role she played that she didn't rock. There's honestly nobody like her - - cult films, big films, she's always Parker Posey.

LOL, Amy Poehler (one of the best Weekend Update hosts in the show's history) ? Did Amy write this column herself? She wasn't even close to the best ..so who are you trying to fool here. Jimmy and Tina were a good team..Tina and Amy ? Lmao , not even close . Yeah ..good luck with this movie , sounds like a hit ...that is ..when it comes on hbo or showtime. Who's gonna spend money to see this crap at the theaters ? ..Not me !
