Cinematical's SmartGossip: A Very Phallic Week

Filed under: RumorMonger, Newsstand, Cinematical's SmartGossip!

Usually I try to ignore gossip related to the private anatomy of actors and celebrities. I quite frankly don't want to know about size, although I'm not unwilling to watch male frontal nudity in films. I don't want to know about anyone's quirky little habits in that area, either. But this week's celebrity news has made the topic unavoidable, from book-promotion interviews to the red carpet itself. You have been warned.
  • I suppose if you want innovation at red-carpet events, you have to break taboos: Steve-O (pictured above), star of Jackass: Number Two, broke ground -- or at least dampened it -- by urinating on the red carpet at the film's premiere. (Caution: The linked story does include photos.)
  • Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake chased down a photographer hiding in the bushes, who then drove his car toward the couple, who were on foot. Now the actress is suing the photographer for assault with a deadly weapon (the car being the weapon).
  • The recent military coup in Thailand is even affecting Hollywood: filming was interrupted on a movie starring Nicolas Cage, the Pang brothers' Time to Kill. The movie is a remake of the Pangs' own Bangkok Dangerous -- aptly enough, as they were in Bangkok when the coup erupted. Cage is unharmed, but has a private jet waiting in case he needs to leave the country in a hurry.
  • Rupert Everett has been promoting his new autobiography by panning the Hollywood and celebrity scene. Some of his comments seem a little odd -- I'm not sure what exactly "Hollywood is a mirage" means. But there's no ambiguity in his description of movie stars as " ... blobs who don't say anything, aren't allowed to say anything. They are paid to shut up." Everett is also revealing, er, his lack of reproductive capability. At least there are no photos.
