Box Office Report: Don't You Feel Like a Jackass

Filed under: Box Office, DIY/Filmmaking, Newsstand

As per our earlier report, Jackass: Number Two stumbled, bumbled and broke several limbs while on route to the number one spot at the box office this weekend. With $28.1 million Johnny Knoxville and his gang of merry morons proved stupid scores big, increasing their opening take by nearly 23% over the previous Jackass flick marking the largest gross from a September film this year. I expect Number Three will pop up shortly ... if they survive it.

Jet Li's so-called "final martial arts film" Fearless slid into the number two spot with $10.5 million, pushing last week's top flick, Gridiron Gang ($9.7 million), down into third place. (Looks like The Rock failed to cook up a repeat performance.) Flyboys opened with a respectable (compared to the dismal numbers so far this fall) $6 million, earning it a fourth-place finish, while the animated Everyone's Hero ($4.7 million) rounded out the top five. As expected, bad reviews forced All the King's Men to finish seventh, despite it's jam-packed cast. And, whaddya know, it looks like I was right about The Black Dahlia, as it dropped from number two to sixth with a paltry $4.4 million.

Full numbers after the jump.
