Cinematical's SmartGossip: Hearts and Flowers and Scary Photos
Filed under: RumorMonger, Newsstand, Scarlett Johansson, George Clooney, Cinematical's SmartGossip!
Most of the celebrity gossip news this week seems to be centered on Anna Nicole Smith. In fact, the quantity of news about her pushed the Cruise family right out of the spotlight for once. Her son's recent death was determined to have resulted from a toxic drug combination. Disputes have been occurring over the paternity of her new baby daughter. And on Thursday, she and her longtime lawyer, Howard K. Stern, held a commitment ceremony (not an official marriage, as was earlier speculated). After the Smith drama, do we need any more gossip? Of course we do. Here are some of the celebrity highlights from the past week:
- Wedding bells: Rumors have been flying about actress Amanda Peet (pictured above) being pregnant. She not only confirmed the news of her pregnancy this week, but also announced that she and the baby's father, screenwriter David Benioff, are getting married this weekend.
- Last time I wrote about George Clooney, he was being linked with actress Ellen Barkin. Now the word is that he and actress Renee Zellweger may be reuniting. My sister will just die, poor thing. Speculation is also running wild that Clooney may go into politics -- please, George, no. We have enough politicians -- we need you onscreen.
- I don't usually take much interest in fashion, but this is notably sad: Scarlett Johansson was spotted at a party last weekend wearing the most unflattering outfit ever. It's mind-bogglingly ugly. Truly.
- Speaking of bizarre photos, have you seen this one yet of Christopher Walken on the set of Hairspray? It's uncertain whether he actually appears in the film like this, or if he put on the wig as a practical joke (I'm betting the latter).
- Wait, one more scary photo. This is the last one, I promise: the unsexiest picture ever of actor Matthew McConnaughey. That can't really be him, can it? Please tell me it's a fake.

The mug totally makes the McConnaughey photo. That's classic.

Can't we remind Matthew that "Don't Mess With Texas" includes turning a Texas movie star into a biblical patriarch?
