Jeffrey Wright is Die Hard's Villain?
Filed under: Action, Casting, RumorMonger, Remakes and Sequels
I'm not exactly sure how they secured this information, but JewReview is reporting that Jeffrey Wright has landed the role of main bad guy in Live Free or Die Hard (aka Die Hard 4). Wow, though I didn't see that one coming, it definitely makes sense as production will take place in Washington D.C. and, not only is that Wright's hometown, but he also plays a good seedy D.C. dude.
If this rumor is true, Wright will be playing the head of some sort of (corrupt?) agency hell-bent on shutting down the United States by way of internet-based terrorism. Fox chairman Tom Rothman recently teased that an announcement regarding who would be playing the villain was just around the corner and, while news probably leaked a bit earlier than they would've liked, it's all good as far as I see it. What do you think?

He was GREAT as the villian in the Shaft remake (one of the few good things about that movie), and is an amazing actor... this makes me more interested in the movie, though I don't think there needs to be another Die Hard.

i think a lot of production is actually happening in baltimore (i have no idea if it's all or just some). i only know this because it's already started, and they've been griping about the traffic on the local news ever since. oh, and about bruce willis sightings around town.

I think if true it is a great choice. I and I believe other black actors like myself have wanted to see a choice role like this go to a black actor for some time. Jeffrey Wright sold me on his acting chops with his his standout turn as Dr Martin Luther King. If true congrats to Jeffrey and more power to him. Here's hoping this is the start of something
