Naomi Watts for The Birds?

Why do you hate me so much Michael Bay? I just don't understand what I ever did to you. Why must you take exceptionally great and classic films of the past and then destroy them with remakes ... like you did with the Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning and/or The Amityville Horror? Isn't it enough for you to make your own films which defy any semblance of logic, story or performance? Have you even watched Pearl Harbor? And now you're at it again. What is Michael Bay's latest transgression? It's his planned remake of one of the best suspense thrillers of all time -- Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds. Universal Pictures and Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes production company have been developing a remake of the suspense classic for over a year now and only recently attached a scribe -- Leslie Dixon , writer of The Thomas Crown Affair remake and the Freaky Friday remake. Anyone see a pattern here?
At the moment, there is no casting news or start date for the film, but indications point to the role made famous by Tippi Hedren in the original being offered any day now to Naomi Watts. I think Naomi is a talented actress and she's proven her abilities in films such as The Ring and Mulholland Drive, but even though she would probably be great in the part, I still wonder why this film has to be made at all. Even Platinum Dunes producer Brad Fuller's assurances that this version will stay more faithful to the original novel by Daphne Du Maurier doesn't fill me with a great deal of confidence. In my perfect world, things like this would never happen at all. How about you?

And all this time I thought the one good thing about the Psycho remake was that it kept other Hitchcock movies from being slaughtered.
Damn wrong again.

Make a movie called, "Michael Bay Sits on the John, Pooping For and On the Ignorant Masses." At least it's an original work.

Actually, the originals aren't slaughtered at all. They are still sitting there on your shelf, ready to be enjoyed.
Regardless what Michael Bay is making, remake or original story, theres a fair chance it will be lame. So who cares what it is. It's not like we're missing out on some great masterpiece because he chooses to do a remake.

As long as they get Cloris Leachman to play Jessica Tandy's part, I'm in. And at the end, as the perfect twist: they run for safety from the ravenous birds and, surprise! The only shelter is the Bates Motel (with Vince Vaughn recreating his Oscar-worthy turn as Norman). And Leatherface is there, too, from Bay's no doubt terrifying remake which I missed because I had to clip my toenals that week.... And maybe they should get Caterwaulling Racoon-Eyes Toddler-san from Grudge 2. And the birds could all go "mine!mine!mine!" like in Finding Nemo, god, I just love that little son of a fish, don't you?

Enough with the remakes.
You have to wonder if talented actors are getting dragged into these projects because of agency "packaging," favors owed to someone in the industry, or there's a safe and locked inside are incriminating photos of hollywood power players with farm animals.

Actually, Watts should do the smart girl thing and place phone calls to Ben Affleck, Liv Tyler, Scarlett Johansson and Ewan McGregor and ask them what it's REALLY like to work on a Michael Bay film set.
Then she should either charge a pirate's rate for her work or flee this project.
