Harold and Kumar 2 Becomes Official

Surprisingly, one of the funniest comedies in the past few years (to me, at least) was Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle. Sure, there were a bunch of stupid set pieces (the most memorable one involved Harold and Kumar riding a cheetah), but there's no denying Neil Patrick Harris' brilliant performance as, well, himself. Rumors of a sequel have been passed around the internet more times than a joint on April 20th (if you got that, then you know I've been around the block more than once), and today Production Weekly confirms the project is definitely a go.
John Cho (Harold) and Kal Penn (Kumar) have officially signed on to star in Harold and Kumar 2, with screenwriters Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg (who penned the first flick) set to make their directorial debut on the sequel. Now, before there was word that a sequel would find the boys traveling across Amsterdam, however we're not certain whether it will take place abroad or here in the States. PR describes the pic as a cross-country adventure that "follows the pot-smoking duo as they try to outrun authorities after being suspected as terrorists when they try to sneak a bong on board a flight to Amsterdam." So, based on that description, it seems the boys never make it to Amsterdam, right? Regardless, I'm definitely looking forward to another adventure from these two -- how about you?

Damn, I was really hoping they'd get to Amsterdam and run into NPH there too. I envision him as kind of a wandering soul, tripping balls across the globe whilst in search of the perfect lapdance.
Still, if NPH shows up anywhere in Harold and Kumar 2, it will definitely be an awesome flick. If he doesn't, well it will still be pretty damn funny.
Definitely looking forward to it.

I HATED the first one. I didn't find any humour anywhere that had any substance, I found the acting was decent at best (Neil Patrick Harris was the exception though) and the plot just kept dragging on and on. I am shocked that this movie is so loved, shocked I tell you

I was pleasantly surprised at how awesome H&KGTWC was. I dont think I had laughed that hard in years. I totally love how the "ethnic" characters in the film have major development and all the white guys are cardboard cutout stereotypes. I look forward to the sequel.

Finally news about Harold and Kumar!
About time I'd say!
It's quite a relief to read that they'll finally start shooting in January and that H&K2 will actually be made!! I can't help but loving the first one!
The chance that they'll actually end up in Amsterdam is pretty small though I think.
The plot sounds pretty awful; hopefully the writers have some more surprises up their sleeves cause this sounds like a 'let's repeat part 1' kind of movie at this time.
And dammit; I want them to come to the Netherlands so that I can get my one second of cameo-stoner fame!!!
And the lord knows the Dutch deserve it :)
Oh by the way; most of the real Amsterdam-weed is of terribly low tourist-quality so that wouldn't be such a challenge for H&K. Probably for the best if they end up in Kingston town after all, haha.

I didn't think there was anything special with the first one. There were some funny scenes, and at best the movie was a little bit entertaining. But I like the characters (Harold and Kumar) and I like the actors portraying them. I also liked the idea that they took these 2 underdogs to star in their own movie. About Neil Patrick Harris...he was splendid :) Too bad it was just a cameo.
