Beyonce and Longoria Engage in a Lesbian Affair

Oh, you knew there was a reason for staying in on a Friday night and surfing around Cinematical. And you'll want to read this story because -- trust me here, folks -- it's definitely a doozy. Apparently, Beyonce Knowles and Eva Longoria have been offered roles in Tipping the Velvet, an adaptation of the Sarah Waters novel. Though nothing is official yet, it appears this will be Sofia Coppola's next film, and both actresses have confirmed their possible involvement. Says Longoria, "Yes, it's true, we're talking about doing that. It's such a wonderful novel, a beautiful love story."
While I've never read it (sorry, but 472-page lesbian stories set in the 1890s aren't exactly my cup of tea), according to the amazon description, this one seems delicious. Here, this should get you started: "With a title that's a euphemism for cunnilingus and a plot awash with graphic lesbian sex, this lush tale fearlessly and feverishly exposes the political, social and sexual subversions of Victorian-era gender-benders: sapphists, libertines and passing women." Great, I'll take that with a side of sweeet! For those of you interested in learning a bit more about Tipping the Velvet (like I really have to ask), the book was already adapted into a BBC television drama serial back in 2002. And it's on DVD. And now you have something to do this weekend. You're welcome.

I hate to break it to you guys, but the DVD version of Tipping the Velvet can only be played on DVD players that work with PAL formats. PAL is the TV signal used in the UK. USA uses NTSC. So unless you have a multi-system DVD player, or a PAL DVD player with a PAL TV, don't order the DVD. If you're going to watch it, look for an American release of it.

They play this on the cable channel Logo sometimes. It's pretty good but um, i don't really get how longoria or beyonce would play aristocratic european women?

Beyonce won't do this film. It would alienate too much of her black audience.

I can't seem to find the BBC version on any of the standard Pr0n sites. Are you SURE it was made into a series?
Seriously, though, look at the headline... "Longoria! Beyonce! Hot Lesbo Sex!" This screams thought-provoking art-house flick like... Deep Throat or something.

to khia213, as a black male, (from the 323), I have that Beyonce would not alienate anyone by doing this movie, I know for a fact that me and my friends would see it the first weekend

Tipping the Velvet is a pretty good novel but the BBC adaptation was dreadful. There's no way in hell Beyone or EL could possibly pull it off either, especially as the main character makes her living very convincingly as a male impersonator...

The DVD works fine for me in my regular US DVD player. The BBC version was fabulous. No way anybody could top it.

Geeze, its not going to be porn! The book is brilliant, it does seem hard to picture beyonce and eva as mashers! Nan and Kitty are portrayed as very pretty boys, i can't see beyonce or eva passing off as a believable boy. and what about FLO! its an excellent intellectual, sensous story, the bbc version is nice, but failed to capture certain aspects of the novel. I'm a tad skeptical about this production, since the bbc version was three hours long, and yet it still didnt capture the essence of the novel. as i true fan of the work, i hope it doesnt get butchered ad be all about the sex. an honest, true portrayal is something im waiting to see.

Beyonce and Eva have debunked this tabloid lie for what it is.
Having seen the BBC miniseries version (got it from Netflix and it worked fine on my player) Boyonce and Eva in the lead roles would be the most miscast film of all time.

This is Horrible! The Original BBC movie was heartfelt, and showed the straight world that being gay is normal, and not weird. Having these two big name fakers who don't give a damn about gay rights and are all about their Fendi bags just shows how messed up American culture is. Shame on Sophia Coppolla!
